Nashville Star....

Post by jchitty » Wed Jun 18, 2008 8:06 am

Anyone been watching Nashville Star? I watched the first installment, but I forgot to watch it Monday night...sigh.I like the two friends (forget their names) who sang, "Stand By Your Man." Charlie got eliminated week before last. Dang, I think John Rich and Jewel should get a room....they fuss a lot. It's cool seeing Jeffrey Steele on the panel. I think he does a pretty good job judging the contest, although I disagreed with him about the red haired lady that he thought was so good....she was pretty bad to me. Forget her name too, did she get eliminated this week?

I've watched the first two, I was surprised that they kicked Charlie off, I had him picked to go a lot further.Do you mean the girl that looks like Reba but with extremely crazy eyes? She's still in it. She did better this week but her first performace scared me.The first episode John totally called Jewel out about having her own pitch problems when recording her latest. I thought she was going to kill him.The trio group Third Town got eliminated last week. Not a bad choice.I think Gabe has the best country voice and is my male choice. For the girls I'm goin' with Ashley, she needs to improve quite a bit but i think America will choose her.

When you say the trio group, I'm guessing you mean the three guys who had kind of weird harmonies, the Rascal Flatts wannabees? I remember them....I didn't think they were that good anyway, so I'm not surprised they were eliminated.Gabe is one of my favorites too.....he sounds like a combination of Clint Black and George Strait. I think he's gonna be a fierce competitor. I'll get better with these names as time goes on.....I'm gonna try to catch NS next week for sure.

Ashley Hewitt is in incredible talent. She was "discovered" about 4 years ago, performing with her sisters, The Hewitt Sisters. They are from Minnesota and have been playing country music venues since they were very young. One Hewitt Sisters concert and you will forget about the Dixie Chics. The Hewitt Sisters' (drums, fiddle, guitar) chops can hold their own most side men and their harmonies are on the order of the Cherryholmes.Ashley is a waaaay better guitarist than she's displayed so far on show. With as much concert experience as she has under her belt, it's still gotta be quite overwhelming to stand there in front of the best judge panel on TV and kick it out. Tho, that's what she's got to do to advance. To her credit, she's already copped a publishing deal and has several cuts with new artists with Indy deals. No matter what happens, we'll be hearing much more from her. By the way, she is genuinely the nicest, most decent, centered and giving person to ever land in Nashville.

Thanks for the insight on Ashley, that’s interesting, I wonder why the sister’s didn’t come along? She’s definitely the most marketable and as you pointed out very talented, I hope she shines in episodes to come, Looking forward to it.

Quote: I wonder why the sister’s didn’t come along? Not sure, I wasn't in the loop when that call was made. I'm thinkin' babies and associated familial priorities/responsibilities intervened for well-grounded traditional family oriented sisters.

So far it hasn't been hard to tell who's getting voted off next. It'll start gettin' tougher in 'bout three weeks.
