Re: Do You Always Write Toward a Specific Target?
yeah my thing is, not studying diff styles is like making your own instrument without looking at any others, I mean ya learn piano and synth and guitar and how to sing, because of the differences and what they can add to a mix, the same way rock, rap, r&b, folk, country add there own inflections and personalizations to a mix, if anything doing other music and studying stlyes other than your own, serves to build you artisticly and creatively, not the other way around.
in the time of trumpets and guitars, there was an oboe

Well, speaking as an....umm.........experienced (old, heh) musician, lemme jes say thanks for sayin that! To be honest, sometimes it gets really boring hearing kids talk about how they invented music. Glad to hear some of all y'all realize that it's been going on for thousands of years before we got here. I wonder if anybody knows how many musicians it takes to make one good one?Anyway, I appreciate hearing that, lil bro.

Well, you're right, that's about how many it takes cuz the ones who influenced me were influenced by 10s of thousands more over the centuries, all leading to me doing this thing at this time. If only I was as good as they were. Still, the key (and the thrill) is in the tryin.....Thanks for the compliment. That's lovely.
