I once HATED this song

Post by jchitty » Fri Apr 18, 2008 9:39 am

I never could see what people saw in it, but now I think it's one of the most well crafted songs out there simply because you can't forget it....and it's catchy.Of course, it's older now.....but this is what I've been trying to write now. Go Kenny and your songwriters! A lot of folks don't like country, I can understand that....it's seen as unsophisticated....it's just something you have to 'learn to love,' like Aunt Bea's pickles in that funny Andy Griffith episode. And once again, if it's not okay to post You Tube's, someone let me know, and I won't do that again....I notice folks have been doing it lately, so I guess it's okay, but I'll delete my post if necessary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2KmzFABujM

Stop it you'll have me cracking open a bottle of beer with my teeth! I never gave country the time of day before I came to this forum, not because I thought it was unsophisticated but because it just sounded so different, so...country! And now look, I'm listening to this one again, it's funny, it's catchy, it works!Bloomin sexy tractors

I'll tell you a little story. When I was younger, I hated country music. I loved rock, jazz, some classical, just about everything but country. I once worked at a bank, and one of my co-workers loved country so she kept the radio tuned to country stations. One day, I turned the dial to a rock station. She said, "if you work with me, you listen to country." I moaned and groaned for a year about it, rolling my eyes every time one of those 'whiny, redneck songs came on' but after two years or so, the stuff grew on me. Now I write it and LOVE it, go figure. It does come naturally to me though....since I'm from the South, it's easy to write all those colloquial type lines which are a part of country music. Here's a great ecclectic mix of "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" with "Pirates of the Caribbean." The tractor in this case is a 'ship' of course.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx51cqlNcj4
