Shoot, I had a lotta fun listening to this. Forwarded the link to a bunch of people.I mean, can the Red Army rock out or what?? They all had head mics!! Wonder if the State supplied those. Totally loved the tip o' the hat to the Wizard of Oz at the end.And the dude's shoes, did you check those out?

What a joyous video this was.....the Red Army Choir really put their heart and soul into the work.This video is old, (well at least ten years old) but I just stumbled across it because a friend sent it too me. I e-mailed it to a lot of people too. If you read some of comments on You Tube, it'll give you some of the history of video....the group that did this is from Finland assisted by the Red Choir of course.I like the way the guy with the big hair (and the choir) sings, 'Scweet Hom Aly-bam-A'....their accents are priceless, hehe.

From experience, I'd say that the Finns as a people have a lot of repression issues to work through. But boy, when they DO work through them, WATCH OUT! As evidenced by these guys.

Leningrad Cowboys are top banana as a name over in Finland, along with a couple of other bands like Epunoormali (translated to "abnormal" or "not normal"). I've toured over there in clubs many times and music is almost as important conversation as Finnish hockey players in the NHL. But the music scene over there is kind of a self contained thing, say like Quebec, and every once in a while someone breaks internationally. Last band I remember breaking out with a bit of a hit was a band called Rasmus. And Bomfunk MC was making some serious waves in Europe. I was born there in Finnish Lapland. I don't know about the repression thing but I'm proud of them all. They are a shy bunch until they have a few drinks in them.
