OK, sorry very misleading title - for a very good reason.What makes a title stand out these days? I notice some of the lyrics you guys are posting get some huge look ins. I know sometimes the title is obvious but what if you decide to go with something other than the chorus or hook.Thanks,Lindsey

For the most part, the hook and title synergy is required in pop and country, and rock tunes. With instrumentals, it is more fun. I get a lot of comments from the screeners on titles of instrumentals like Winibago, Blue Unicorn, which they point out as 'interesting titles', but really are nothing more than a title. Its rare to have a title of a song that doesn't appear anywhere in the song. OR worse , what if Lynard Skynard decided that the title of 'Freebird' would be 'Stay Monkey Stay'? BTW, I was the 8th person to read this.ArkJack

There are many Alternative songs that don't use the obvious title . Its as if its trendy for them to pick a random word from the next to last line of the verse. Maybe doing that adds to their Artistic Credibility

Hi Lindsey.This is my first post as a new member to the Taxi forum & as a Taxi songwriter member.I must say you have alot of interresting questions amongst the forum.I have a song that I contemplated on wether I should call it "Broken" which is the chorus... or call it "The Angry Song" which had nothing to do with the lyrics. I'm yet to decide but am not too concerned.My opinion is that the audience will "get what they get". It's a matter of the writer's discression as to what he wants to call it & what sits emotionally for him or her. But most importantly I think that the "song itself" will make the decision whether anyone is really interrested in knowing what the song title is. When I hear a new song on the radio I will only bother finding out the song title after I have decided if it's a hot song & then maybe buy it.BUT...on the other hand...if it's titled something else & you miss the title, you would be hard pressed to find it. That...from a marketting point of view is not good for the artist as he has just missed out on a sale because one fan couldn't be bothered searching anymore.Great site guys.CheersZoli
