Certainly not everything is going to be a hit, but that isn't the point. The fact that you got up everyday and wrote will strengthen your creative muscle. Ralph Murphy once said that a pro writer might write 50 songs to find that one hit song. IMO it's a songwriter's job to write. I'm amazed when I meet songwriters who only write a song once in a blue moon. I work on writing music every day. I'm also working on a novel (thanks to NaNoWri) and everyone keeps asking when I'm going to write that book on the creative process. I don't say that so you can all go 'oh Vikki you are so great', I say that because, if I can do it, you can do it. We are artists, and artists work on their art on a consistent basis, knowing some of it will be crap, some of it will have a grain of something worthwhile that might become the foundation for another piece, and hopefully one or two pieces will really shine. If you don't write consistently, what are your chances of finding the gold nuggets?H

BWahahahahaha!! I think it's a good idea for those who are, say, marathon writers. Some of us aren't, though. I don't write once in a blue moon but I couldn't make 50 in 90 to save my life BECAUSE of my life (although that might be a motivator.....put a gun to my head and I can do almost anything!)I'm not making a living at songwriting currently though, so maybe that's the difference?

Coming down to the wire.... I think I'm 30 songs behind..... tons of little snippets and pieces, but nothing finished as a cohesive final song...... if the professor were giving out grads..... I'd be worried about not getting my degree.....ArkJack

However, doing the challenge pushed me to write some lyrics that I wouldn't have written otherwise. I've been focussing on writing and producing finished products for film/tv... and that slowed me down. Otherwise writing snippets & pieces is what it is all about. Getting something down and then moving on knowing you've got an idea you can come back to. I feel good about what I did write - so should you - that's the point!!

Love the idea. Too bad I wasn't a forum member when this started. Will be eager to hear the gems that come out of this. Next time somebody tries one of these challenges, I'll try to jump in. It can only help my getting over the hump and pushing myself to write.Ted

Hi Vickie,I did the RPM Challenge 10 or more songs in 28 days.My hair has been white ever since. Blessings and Balance,Ernest
