Pre-Report from The Rally Hotel

Post by davewalton » Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:53 am

Good morning...Phil Youin reporting live from the Rally Hotel! (Phil-You-In... reporter... get it??? Never mind... )Am here a little early after attending another LA conference last week. It's a little quiet... that'll change soon. The big news... restaurant is totally demolished. They've "moved" it to another area, it's smaller and they've actually put tables out in the lobby area. It's pretty much the same but... the breakfast buffet is "contenental"... cereals and breads, fruits, some oatmeal, etc. I *think* you can get a full buffet but it's not out there (because of limited space)... you have to ask for whatever you want and they bring it from the kitchen. On another cuisine topic... the Internet Cafe is back up to an "A" rating!!!! I think it dropped down pretty low in previous years... last year I remember thinking that I wasn't very excited about eating there no matter the cheap price. Now we can eat cheap and still stay alive. Phil Youin reporting live from the Rally Hotel, signing off (for now).

Lookin' forward to seeing you a few days Phil...er, I mean Dave. I'll probably meander down around noon on Thursday. Keep us posted on the happenings around there. And I'm glad to hear that the Internet Cafe is safe to eat at now.

Hey P.Y. (or is that P. You-In?? LOL!!) This is my 4th year at "The Hotel", and every year it seems there is some construction going on there-- I especially remember the year with NO escalators. Aurgh. I heard we'll get the mezz back this year, along with the theater, which will be fun! Maybe they'll bring back more Rally listening stations this year too! Don't eat too much internet food. However I can't believe they would schedule restaurant renovation to coincide with the time when hundreds upon hundreds of hungry musicians descend on the hotel...not very smart planning if you ask me...Oh well, looks like we'll have to order more Indian food Raags...anything else good you know in the vicinity?

Thank you Dave for that report. I'm glad the internet cafe is back up to snuff (altho I ate there many times without any problems). Sounds strange re the hotel restaurant... but whatever, I can only afford subway anyhow, lol

The subway there has "any 3 footlong sandwiches for 13.99" - that is enough food for a few days, isn't it?
