Great to meet the new "Dots"

Post by crs7string » Wed Nov 12, 2008 2:53 pm

A highlight of the Rally for me was meeting a lot of the forum members who attended the Rally this year that I had not previously met.Raags, it was great to meet you and thanks for orchestrating the Indian food fest.Allen, I'm looking forward to listening to your CD and would like to kick you in the butt to do more tracks.Andy, we didn't talk about collaborating, but I'd love to have you add some sax and woodwinds to a track or two and would be happy to add some guitar to yours.Kurt, I enjoyed talking gear. I think we are on the same path with the tracks we're doing. I'd love to hear what you conjure up with RA. I'm going to listen to your CD soon too.Vicky the Bassplayer, I enjoy your music and your spirit and sense of humor.Dean K, I hope it doesn't take ten attempts to buy you a drink next time I see you, either in Nashville or LA.Tim, see you in Nashville when you're down this way.Nick Fever, I hope you don't end up on the hood of a car (Nick kept turning around in one of the listening panels with a deer in the headlights look on his face)Slideboards, you are going to achieve a lot of success. You seem to be smart enough to do more listening than talking, a skill set I know I haven't developed. ChristiG and Stan, keep the jazz licks coming!!! I'm probably missing someone and will loop back as I catch up on sleep.Chuck

Right back at ya, Chuck! Anyone who can make sense of my incoherent ramblings at 2AM has my friendship. --Andy.

Speaking of dots, Chuck thank you for the legitimate dot! I picked up, what I thought were 'legitimate' dots from Staples, like the day before, and didn't open them until I arrived at the Rally. To my surprise they were these mini dots!! I put one and and introduced myself. Chuck says, 'you need a real dot' and offered me one of his. It was great meeting you and thanks for making me a legitimate dot!Rich

Chuck!!You're on MY list of people I met at the Rally and want to hang out with more! Yes to the $100. And yes, there must be a hook in there somewhere. Seriously, I've said it a dozen times already, but I'm sure my stomach got the best workouts from all the laughter with you and everyone in the lobby. You were just the sweetest, and it was such a pleasure to meet you! I'm starting to remember names again now... I think I lost a few brain cells in those late lobby nights... Raags

Oh, yeah, and regarding the consumption of alcohol in the lobby by the dots... Here's what a friend sent to me recently:“A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, the slowest and weakest ones are killed first . This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because of the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.” Raags
