As far as "all the great songs have been written," There's a book out by Wayne Chase about songwriting http://howmusicreallyworks.com that's very mathmatical and he basicaly makes the point that there are more potential songs out there then there are atoms in the universe or somthing like that. Don't have it in front of me but it's a HUGE number of potential songs. There will always be more get songs we just have to write them
