Re: 2008 Rally "GREEN" challenge...
Sweet, Ted. Thanks for the great idea. Yeah, this matters a lot to me (of course my partner and I joke that being green is part of our job description for being gay; it's like we get Queer Continuing Ed credits every time we do something PC... LOL!! )By day, I work for the evil gas & electric company -- but I work under the group responsible for renewables. I was the first employee to put solar panels on my house (despite that the CEO makes >10x what I do - don't get me started), and now we get a check every month instead of a bill. We also just recently gave my partner's car to her brother and even sold my little 100mpg scooter because I got transferred to an office that I can walk to. Karen takes the commuter bus to her job unless she's on the late shift. Even my laptop music rig - including my MOTU 828 - fits in a combo rolling/backpack suitcase... so I'm jones-ing for the day when the Rail Runner, our local high-speed train, goes all the way up to Santa Fe because I currently drive up there for rehearsals every month or so. I call it "everyday activism" - like Mer, you fit it into your everyday life and I feel like it's more useful than picketing, you know? And it feels really good.If anybody wants to learn about residential solar, just gimme a holler! Nothing like seeing your meter run backward.

Very cool, CK.If y'all are ever looking for more employees in the "renewables" department, let me know. THAT kind of energy work, I would do and do gladly.Yeah, my biggest problem these days is the fact that Taos makes all these claims about how environmentally conscious it is ("...the Solar capital of the world"), and yet they REFUSE to recycle plastic. It's infuriating. But I'm still unable to throw it away...I just can't...so my living room is getting more and more crowded. I have NO idea what I'm going to do with all the old milk cartons and yogurt containers.
