Re: I think the open mic was terrible!
When my husband was working for Prince he used to joke about "the rant". Prince used to go on at every concert saying "everyone can do something, and everyone's got something to offer" but in his royal purple way.I realized then that 1. I really dug Prince and 2. he was right. The open mic - if you saw me perform you might say I suck, but maybe someone else might like one line of my song and I might just right a mega-hit with that person some day. You can't know what someone can really do until you give them the chance, and everyone can do something, once they get a chance to try. Great attitude in your post, Sir-J, and see you at the rally!!

Re: I think the open mic was terrible!
Ok, my belated 2 cents: I think the open mic was TERRIBLY MANAGED... just my experience: of getting called into the bullpen, waiting around, and then never called up to the stage. When I asked the fellow if I was going to get to perform, he ragged on me claiming he never called my name, and implied I had 'snuck in' to the bullpen area. Jeez, that was fun, and certainly motivating! It was the only dark spot in the rally for me, but very dark.

Well, let's wait and see if things have changed this year. I think TAXI would have received some suggestions on what could be done after the last Rally, however, they have been doing it for many years & have likely tried various different scenerios. I'm sure they are aware of this (old) thread & have discussed the open mic in their many planning meetings.
