Forwards - subtitle - time for a change?
Well, I see this forum has the subtitle:'Got a forward? Wanna brag about it? Post it up.'- and I was thinking - isn't it so that Taxi want people to post their forwards here, so that other people can listen to what got forwarded, and in that way educate themselves by getting a clearer view on what works and what doesn't on different listings? And, - isn't it also in the interest of every Taxi member that as many as possible of those getting forwards, are posting it, with a link to the music, to in that way contribute to the continued education of the Taxi community about what works? However, - the subtitle more than hints to the people posting being spoiled brats wanting to brag about their achievement ... So - I suggest changing it to something more appropriate. What about you - what do you think?- until next timefrodo

It's pretty clear the whole bunch is anything but spoiled or conceited, IMO....so the label doesn't bother me. The folks getting forwarded by Taxi are pretty dang humble, actually (hmmm...there's a correlation there?!?).I guess the "spirit" has overcome the "letter" of the title.I'm glad we've got a good spot to share and view what makes it through...just like you accurately said at the top of your note Frodo. I've been reading via the "last 100 posts" feature anyway, so I don't even see the section headers anymore.

When someone here has a success such as a forward, a library deal, a placement, etc. it's great to have a place in which to share the excitement. You want to shout it from the rooftops, you are so excited!! You want to shout it to the universe! A 'universe' of people just like you who 'get it' is awesome to have. It's very nice to share it with friends and family , but sometimes telling someone not in 'our world' that you signed a music library deal isn't the same. Like the ones who posted on this thread before me, I find most people here to be very humble. There are folks with great success/track records who come here every day, help people with all things musical, and barely ever mention their successes. And a little bit of bragging when not obnoxious is fine! Other people's successes are very motivating... Casey

Casey H and Devin,I don't question the attitude or intentions of those posting, my focus is on the sub-title.What if the peer-to-peer forum had the sub-title: post your tunes and be the laughing-stock of the community? Or - if the listings had such strange discrepancies between what is asked for and what really is asked for:Like, - 'yeah, I know it said, ala Britney Spears in the listing, but everyone that has been around for a while, knows we're really looking for Regina Spektor like music'. It's like the saying; put your money where your mouth is.Taxi tries to be accurate in the listings, and ask those submitting to read thoroughly the listing and submit only if it fits, and they should, in my view, use the same attitude to the phrasing of the subtitles, and not use condescending phrased subtitles to any of the sub-forums.Again - I'm not questioning those posting there, - it's the sub-title that is my focus here. - until next timefrodo[edited for clearity and grammar]

Hey Frodo, I mean no disrespect to anyone from anywhere in the world. But in United States, "bragging," about one's accomplishments is quite acceptable behavior... This subtitle thing doesn't actually mean anything about being spoiled brats. That might be only what you think bragging means, or what you've learned. Being from Canada (the land of extra apologies), I've paid a lot of attention to the differences between uniquely American perspectives, and otherwise. As a kid, I was taught that bragging, was a behavior that nice boys didn't do. However, this world is much different than the one my parents thought they were in control of. hehe We all adapt. With this kind of music business, bragging is a necessary part of marketing/promotion. And so, there is nothing wrong with "bragging" about forwards. sorry to disagree with you,Steve

Being one of immense modesty myself frodo I see what your getting at but this one passes even my incredibly high standards.I don't think anything is meant by it.I suppose they could have said, wanna tell us about it.Personally my answer would have been no but if it humors some of the lesser mortals(eg Steve Gilbert ) then so be it.Let every dog(Steve Gilbert)have his day even if he is barking up the wrong tree.I hope people will twig that's a pun and leaf me alone.Bilbo Baggins,AKA johnny, ever the modest.

Well Guy's.....This site has helped me like u can't beleive. And I don't care what they call it.. And the more I brag, The better I feel and when My Ego starts to get 2 big..Everybody puts me in my place..And that's how I learn..And when I first started posting I did feel like an outsider. But now I feel like a part of a bunch of good people who help me when I ask, and there always there for a laugh !So we should just call it ...THE SUCSESS AND FORWARDS CLUB...Jay...r-man..

And thus can't be just about the bragging part, can it?And bragging has in fact a dictionary-definition somewhat negative connotation, just look it up. Still - it doesn't matter that much, really, does it?So, - I'll continue to send my Britney Spears like songs to Regina Spektor listings.(-- or was it the other way around?) - until next timefrodo
