First Foward - World Music
Hey All,I only just joined Taxi, so am a real newb here, but got a foward back today. So it's one on the scoreboard for 7 song submissions to three different listings. I know there's a long way to go, but just wanted to share. The listing was.......WORLD MUSIC ARTISTS are wanted by the VP of A&R at an International Independent Record Label with worldwide distribution. This label specializes in New Age and World Music and is extremely high-profile in those circles. They would love to find artists who are relevant to a mass audience and not just confined to a niche base of appreciators. This label has supported many successful Japanese artists, but they are looking to expand into all areas of World Music. They are open to traditional/authentic tones as well as current/contemporary approaches. They're very interested in artists who have established themselves online, with some sales and a bit of touring experience. These things aren't necessary to submit, but please don't forget to submit a photo/bio regardless of your experience/history. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include photo/bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than May 14, 2008. Hey, I checked out your site, and it is indeed Peter Gabriel singing, isn't it? And Anjelique Kidjo (spelling!)."An authorised remix of the stunning African vocals of Angelique Kidjo, combined with the Aborigional undertones of outback Australia, the percussive rythem of Latin America and the jazzy sax of a sleazy NY. Additional vocals by Peter Gabriel. "

Re: First Foward - World Music
Hey Guys,Thanks for the warm welcome !, and the encouraging comments.Mer, yes the vocal samples came from Peter Gabriels studio realworldrecords.com They put put remix packs about once a month or so, and allow the samples to be used in the public domain. There's not much left of the origional song, just the main vocal lines and the b/v's.I think it's a good exercise in composition to re-work a number, and you also get some great vocal takes to work with when the budget or the creativity is a little lacking. Thanks again for the welcome guys...............cheers, niteshift
