Pop/Country song feedback
Hi There,Can I get some feedback on a country/pop song demo I have. I am trying to pitch it out to artists. But dont really know if it is good enough in its current state. The song is called "In my life" and can be found on www.myspace.com/radiosonicWhat do you guys think? Is this ready to be pitched as is? what does it need before I start pitching?thanks.

Very nice song jeeth. Very catchy.Personally I would cut a lot down on the strings. To me they steal the whole picture and right from the start. Think of something more acoustic, at least in the beginning, then build up.Nice vocal, especially in the beginning.....but he sounds like he is getting warned out the longer the song goes on. (Is that you singing?) I would say work a little on that too.For what it's worth...just my take and I do get very easily tired of things/sounds that 'bugs my ear'.Good luck with it.

+1 on Ulla's strings comment. They sort of swell in and out unnaturally, although I applaud your attempt at dynamics. The song is well put together, with some nice touches on vocal phrasings and arrangement. There's just a little pitchiness in the vocal that might be just distracting enough for this demo to be a strong artist pitch.Vince

Thanks ulla, Vince.Ulla: I'm the singer there, I am actually contemplating getting a country singer to sing it, to get a better feel for the song.I actually love heavy strings and piano, but may be I will tone it down a bit.I personally believe this could be a great crossover pop/country song but I dont know if people who listen to it, who may not be producers or musicians will see the potential in it, right away. I understand its up to me to get the idea across, without them needing to put much effort in.Does its potential come through easily?

Aloha Jeeth, Hey I loved the strings, They help make your song a beautiful ballad. If I would change anything it would be that little swell at the end. I think it would be a better closing to remove it. That's just my view as a listener, most of the people here are better versed to what would be accepted through Taxi.Donny

I like how the strings sound. What did you use? Stuart

Re: Pop/Country song feedback
I'd play with dynamics some more. For example, I'd drop the intensity after the bridge and go soft on that whole chorus...then soar into the final chorus repeat. This means a vocal retake...so fixing a few things can be done too. Such as the shortened "life" coming out of chorus #1 (you can cut & paste the "life" from chorus #2 if needed, however )I like the strings, but I'd bring them in and out even more...make them disappear for an entire verse, to come back in a pre-chorus, or 1/2 way through the bridge, for example. Have them take turns with the piano, maybe? Have them both gang up on the listener full power for the final chorus.Just my $0.02 of course...I've listened to this more than once, and it's starting to resonate...nice one!

Hi Thanks all!Glad you liked it.Cardell: I dont really know about it. The guy I hired did it for me. All I did was tell him I wanted the arrangement to be piano and strings heavy. My vox are probably the weakest link there.Devin: I totally here you on your point. That was my intention too, thats why I built that second chorus that way, but while executing I was running out of time and had to ditch that idea. I had only allocated 2 hours for this demo.

Your voice is pretty good alright. If you ever post again, include the lyrics.IMHO I don't think it is quite ready to pitch. This is one of these tunes that would really shine with mastering.Lots of great comments so far.Good luckPaul
