Listing aside, it's a great piece of music. What you say about consistency in library music makes sense. Seems to me that when the on screen action changes, they just move on to a different piece of music.I'm pretty sure you'll write another piece, although I often feel like that when I finish writing something.

Hi Mazz, well, I remember this piece - it's wonderful! This has the quality of a very, very early morning news program when people aren't ready to hear a big, driving sound until they've had their first cup of coffee. I don't hear any pop/rock elements - it's orchestral. All the tracks I've listened to for this listing, here on Peer-toPeer, I would say, are missing out the pop/rock element... to my ear anyway. "He is looking for orchestral instrumentals with Pop/Rock elements. He definitely does not want Rock tracks."Georgie

This is wonderfully original. I love the melody, it reminds me of a line Herbie Hancock might do in an improvisation, kind of a symmetrical thing. I'll have to step on Georgie's toes a little and say that I've heard the Pop/Rock elements in all the tunes. Not so much from a rhythmic standpoint but the melodic/harmonic ideas or the types of sounds/instruments used can also be pop/rock elements.

Oh, ok Elser, I did wonder if I was missing something re the pop/rock element - you could well be right. I'm a very literal sort of person and if it doesn't hit me on the head I don't get it!!!No pain in my toes - I was hoping someone would say something like this actually!Georgiep.s. I've just re-listened to River Road with a new brain and I can hear what you mean, at least more than I did.

I'm no expert at all about this, but to me the change is a good thing. It starts out a bit light and fluffy (perhaps a bit to light for news, but they do say they want a "positive" feel) then it gets to more of the hard-news feel.As an aside, Mazz, the quality of your work is just fantastic.Cam

Wow, some really great sounds. Has a bit of a Far East flavor to it to my ears. The sounds and production are amazing. The listing description is a hoot. "The piece should emote images of the economy and home foreclosures, but still make it more positive than negative...", 'My house has been reposessed and the govt. is running a 2tril deficit, but Im OK?I love this piece. My only nit regarding the listing is that they wanted pop/rock elements and I didn't take away much if any of a pop rock element from my listen. As an added bonus, my daughter was listening in the other room and went 'wow that's cool, I love it...' So you have the 'Cassie' blessing on this song -- it's gauranteed to go far now!!Best of luck with this one and thanks for posting it. Erich

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm happy to have the Cassie blessing on this one, Erich!! It's fun to hear that kids like stuff that seems like it might outside their normal musical diet. Hopefully she's getting exposed to lots of things she might not seek out on her own thanks to her musician Dad! The "pop/rock elements" are pretty subtle in this, mostly the electronic percussion and the filtered synth guitar and I'm thinking that could be a deal killer too since they aren't overtly "pop/rock".This piece was written originally for a listing that was looking for Thomas Newman influenced stuff as one example of a hybrid/orchestral style. Since Newman is one of my favorites, it was pretty easy to incorporate some of what seem to be his signature elements. It's fun to see how open to interpretation all of this stuff is. I still feel like I need more practice reading, really absorbing the listings and then targeting music. The elements I heard as "pop/rock" could likely be me putting a hopeful spin on them internally rather than having a more distanced, objective viewpoint as to whether they fit the criteria or not.Always learning!Mazz
