my "High/Up tempo" shot...
Hey,I'd appreciate any critique and feedback you might have for my 60sec track "Launa"http://www.mp3unsigned.com/showmp3.asp?mp3id=59196for the listing:HIGH/UPTEMPO INVESTIGATIVE DRAMA INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an East Coast Music Publisher who has secured dozens of Film/TV placements for TAXI writers over the years. He is looking for exciting, driving beds ranging from Industrial Techno Rock to Orchestral styles that have a high intensity, powerful dramatic tone. He said "percussion rules", he wants "speed" and said "make it move, make it hot" with a climactic building to the end. He's open to any arrangement or instrumentation, as long as the tone is right. Excellent performances are absolutely necessary. He specifically said he wants to hear tracks that are :60 seconds in length. He doesn't want fadeouts, just clear endings. Broadcast quality is required [excellent-sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three compositions online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Tuesday, May 12, 2009.TAXI # Thanks,Panos

I can definitely picture this song in CSI. When they are working with a sample of flesh or so..

Re: my "High/Up tempo" shot...
Hello,From a "critique" standpoint (comments to hopefully help make it better), here's what I'd say...1. At the very start, the Omnisphere standard patch is pretty recognizable to me as an Omnisphere user... doesn't mean that will be the same for the listing party or screener but you might try to either filter it in some way to make it a little different of combine it with something else to mask its presence as a standard patch2. The rhythmic element of the patch(es) doesn't seem to blend with the percussion groove. They're in time obviously just that the rhythmic elements are different (or at least feel different). CSI stuff always seems to have a locked in groove. You might experiment with either an alternative Omnisphere groove for the percussion groove or something. Just spend a little more time getting something that really gels... there may be too much going on there rhythmic-wise.3. You could add a melody... maybe an echo piano melody or something like that on top halfway through to give the track more interest and a more dynamic build. Just some thoughts... HTH,Dave

Sounds good and I agree it would fit just perfect in something like CSI but if you would add lyrics and make it a "traditional" song ofcourse within this gengre man you´re on to something supergood. Good luckGöran

hi Panos--i dig this electro vibe, think it certainly is fine just the way it is.i do agree that if you wanted to embellish it a bit more, dave's idea is a good one with another element with a bit of melody...some kind of piano/synth, not too much up front i'm thinking...but very nice job IMHO, i can hear this in any of the csi or similar stuff on TV...warren

hi Panos... I think this is a really Cool Electronica track... I like the sounds, groove & melodies here. It does sound kinda Investigative...Only thing is when I listen and look at the listing requirements... I'm not quite feeling this mentioned: (high intensity, powerful dramatic tone. He said "percussion rules", he wants "speed" and said "make it move, make it hot" with a climactic building to the end)Then again, I could be wrong... just MHO. HTH.Kel

Does this have a little Van Halen"Dancing In The Street" loop going on in this ? Very cool.

I gotta agree with Kel, I don't think you're track is "fast" enough. And I mean that in two different regards. 1) I think the overall tempo needs to be increased. This track as is makes me think of a car maybe doing 70mph on the highway, but from the listing, I would think the guy wants something that feels like a car doing closer to 100mph on the highway.2) I would change the kick drum pattern that you used in the beginning of the song. That pattern lends itself to more of a "half time" feel, not a "driving" feel at all. Just my $0.02.- Big Blue
