Too Latin for hip-hop, too hip-hop for Latin ?

Post by musicliner » Sat Apr 25, 2009 12:12 pm

I am currently producing and cowriting album for a very talented artist who describes his music as Tangoton, a mix of tango, hip hop and reggaeton. It sounds like this: http://www.airplaydirect.com/music/band ... dex.phpNow, I am really struggling to see where would this fit within the Taxi classification. Is this too Latin for hip hop,? Or, is it too hip hop for Latin?Any feedback will be appreciated.

I like the idea of Tangoton. IMO this is the way I heard it. Viviendo- More of a Reggaeton/Hip Hop. I heard more Reggaeton/Hip Hop than anything else.Un Paso- More of a R&Bish type of sound with Hip Hop influence. Dramatic Events- I heard mainly Hip Hop didn't really catch much Reggaeton or Tango. These are just my opinions. Overall they are good songs.
