We'll see Kell, I'm just not so sure about it anymore for this listing. I was working on it tonight and then it just dawned on me, this is just a regular old epic orchestra piece, not really a hybrid per sey, although its got hybrid elements here and there. Not sure anymore. I'm definitely not deleting it!B

Thanks Keith,That's basically what I was working on tonight. Trying to come up with some themes to tie it in and make it sing more. I was pretty close and then realized I'm not so sure I started in the correct style. I've got some listening to do and then I'll make a decision.B

Hi Bryan,A nice epic piece but yes, probably not as hybrid as they are looking for. When the trumpet comes in, the strings could back off and still be driving the piece. If that were the case, you could probably do a canon-like thing with the brass there (one trumpet answering the other one or the horns or something).Nice work!!Mazz

Agreed Mazz,I was writing away tonight on it and making some good progress, when it just struck me. I forgot about the Hybrid part. Went back and listened to a bunch of stuff by Tyler Bates and new immediately I wasn't even close. Tried to force some stuff onto it and it felt - forced. So back to the shelf with this one. It will come in handy one day.And listening to this stuff again, I really need a good choir sample set and something like StormDrum to really pull this style off. Dammit East/West, more money down the drain! And the Jazz Fest starts in two days, so I might just have to skip this one. B

I take it you live in N'Orleans, Bryan? I lived in northwest Florida and hit the jazz fest twice in the early '90's (pushing a baby around in a stroller!). Great memories...V>

Yes Vince, right here in New Orleans. It's great that the children are being exposed to the good things in life. I've got two dear friends from California who come every year. They met at a Jazz Fest, got married at a Jazz Fest and just had their first child. Six months old and he'll be attending his first Jazz Fest this year. Now that's just beautiful.B

Hi Bryan, I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but read the comments... I do the same thing all the time - get carried away writing something - re-read the listing and that dreadful feeling of "Oh no, it's not even close!" but I'm sure it will evolve to fit or else come in for a pure orchestral epic listing at some point. I'll have a listen this evening. Georgie

hey Bryan... I think I'm getting a clearer idea now of what this sub-genre might mean after trying it out myself & getting all the extremely useful feedback for this listing. I just had another listen to Ur modified track and here's what came to this (new) mind...What really makes Ur track Epic sounding is... the melody section starting from 0:57 all the way to well 1:43, I know I might as well say til the end of track... I really love this portion mentioned. I believe it definitely is Epic sounding. As for hybrid... maybe still not quite there. I think, and this is just MHO... what might just work for this track is...if U added a 303... low resonating bassline with a little moving filter on... not too sure how to explain but I'll try... Ok, U know when the resonance knob is set to almost max and the other knob moves at around the 3/4 mark... Do it very subtly though...I think if U added that effect softly... it would be subtle yet noticeable and it may give this piece a modern feel without over doing it.I may be wrong but try it out if U have the time... I really hope it works man...I'm almost done with my orchestra version too... and I think this track is really almost there when I just listened.-Kel

Hey Kel,This piece is officially parked. Still gonna finish it, but not for this listing. Got a new idea I'm working on now. Really hybrid. Don't know if I'll have time to finish it. We'll see.B
