60 seconds electronica track for review

Post by tcaddigan » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:07 am

So far, I call it 'cruise control'. It's definitely geared towards a car commercial or something like that, so I wanted the name to lean that way.http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... 7539769Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Hi thereTo me this is a little bare bones, like a work in progress. you basically have that repeated synth motif with some different beats underneath it. I was wanting to hear it go to some different places. Whether that's through some melody or texture or any number of things is up to you. Not easy to do in 60 seconds but i would try throwing some different things at it and see what sticks. You have a good start and a solid groove, the rest is like frosting... eo.

I was thinking of cutting out the first 15 seconds and adding 15 seconds at the end of the track (or the middle) where I can go in another direction. Thanks for the input!

hello, yea the HPF interlude thing was a bit long, being one/half of the cue.I thought it was a little bland overall. I would reccomend using some filters, panning automation, and more distinctive sounds to add some more exciting and 'spectral stimulation'.For a cue like this, theres no reason for 5 seconds to pass by without me hearing something interesting build or shift imo. Hope that helps. Nice start.J

Hi Tcaddigan,I like when the bass kicks in... good groove...Ok... right now everything is good... there is a good basic structure... U need to mess things up a little...Break the beats up... chop em up, slightly distort em... especially on every 4th bar, if U know what I mean...For some reason, the 4th bars & the 8th bars are the best places to shift things abt! It should sound awesome when done right, on these magic bars! Just MHO... I could be wrong but that's how I would approach this... HTH.-Kel

This is all great feedback, thanks for all the input. I think I was stuck trying to make my version of that Mitsubishi commercial from a few years ago. This one is definitely far from finished, I'll take my time re-vamping it.Thanks again!
