Re: Mozart - Wheezy Fan Goofy!
Thanks for feedback and encouragement!Steve- I agree that work often intercepts music time. But I'm not complaining, considering the alternative. Yes- Stooges! They and Warner Bros cartoons were crucial to my broad knowledge of classical music! Yeah, right...Brindabella- Thank you. I'm glad you found this tune. Hey Cumpare! I've had that song stuck in my head now since 8:00AM! I thought about it further and concluded that if I had done Ave Maria on the accordion, it probably would have turned into "That's Amore". Best wishes,Al

I especially loved the "umpah-umpah"feel you gave to this track-- and when the drum came in, lovely! The fowards for this listing are surely to go to our TAXI Al's and Allen's! Keep us posted!! Raags

Did I hear a couple of bars of Three Blind Mice in the middle of this? Many years ago I played 2nd flute in a performance of Marriage of Figaro and I don't recall a plot line involving rodents. Anyway, you've created a totally wacky version of this piece. I think you should shop it around to opera directors with the idea of producing the entire M of F with this type of orchestration and irreverence. That would certainly shake up the opera world!Richard

Raags! Thanks for your feedback. I'm happy you liked the umpah style! Seemed right for this tune. This is one of my first submissions off of ProTools 8, so I'm encouraged! I'm learning more about DAW use every time I sit at the computer. It's amazingly powerful and so much more efficient.Richard!Thank you. I really couldn't help slipping in the Three Blind Mice. Call it a Nutcracker treatment of the M of F. I love your idea of an opera re-write. I know of a few that might benefit from this approach!Best wishes,Al

Ah Al, very cool layering of the accordions. It takes some chops to pull that off and you did!!The echo on one of the tracks made it sound like an organ at a ball game to my ears, which is not a bad thing, it just takes it there for me.I think you could have gotten more mileage out of the percussion without overdoing it. The accordion texture needed a little tweak every once in a while and the timpani brought a smile to my face and I wanted to hear it a couple more times.Very fun and wacky, Al. Good luck!!Mazz

Hey Mazz! Thanks for the listen. You caught that ballgame vibe! Cool. I'm glad you did because I really wanted that crazy organ sound in there. It was sufficiently different, yet compatible with the accordion.Regarding mixing, it is still a growing process for me. Layering accordions was a little tricky. I used two different ones with a variety of settings in hope of avoiding things like phase cancellation.Even though it was primarily an accordion tune, I wanted to add a little of the orchestral percussion element. I guess a little restraint is better than going overboard! Thanks for the encouragement!Best wishes,Al
