The new guy... what do you think?
Hey,I'm new both on TAXI and this forum, but I'm looking forward to being a part of it, it looks like a great place to be. As a Norwegian band it's hard to know the american marked, but we have been so lucky that we got a single released last November, and we are hoping to be able to do some shows in the states before the year is over.So it would be great to get some feedback from you guys, find out what you think about the band, the music and to hear what you guys think about the future of the band. You can check the band out here: www.taxi.com/gustu or at www.gustu.noThank you for your time and help,Cheers,Stig"GUSTU"

Re: The new guy... what do you think?
Welcome dear neighbors! I really dig "love/hate collide", especially the synth/voice on this tune! Wonderful voice, and I think you guys will come along way with that, and a great sound. The only thing I felt if you really want to hit it big time, you really you work on a stand out song with a really strong chorus. I think your material is great, but in a mainstream way I don't know, and I don't know if that's what you are aiming for?I don't like to compare bands, but I thought I could hear a little Def Leppard and The Killers in yours. The best! /Alexander

Good stuff. Not really a fit for what's happening in the States right now, but that's OK because we're due for a change here since we've been recycling the same sound for a few years now. Good luck!

Stig,I checked out your site and enjoyed your music. Also checked out the video for Love Hate Collide. Best of luck to you guys. Thought I'd bring your post back to the top of the page since you did not have much response yet. You owe me a place to stay when I come to Norway. See ya soon. Dave

Review of "Love/Hate Collide"
TITLE: "Love/Hate Collide"ARTIST: GUSTUStarting with the intro, the music is full, established, and delivers the emotions before the vocals even get started. The vocalist's quality-of-voice and tone are perfect for this style of music. The band has a high-quality sound. The song itself is a beautiful work of art. It definitely has the potential to melt many hearts. The lyrics flow nicely and the melody pushes a response out of the listener. This song has wonderful potential.

Re: The new guy... what do you think?
First of all, I like the song. Very much. As stated by Kurt and others, the vocals and production are really nice. I grew up in New York, and like other teens around me, I was listening to mostly British bands. This is what it reminds me of...so my opinion has 2 parts.1-You can try to make your name as an alternative band, such as the Killers.2- Shop your stuff heavily in the Euro market because this sound is very current there. Here, wth an American producer, the synths would likely disappear or change to a heavier sound, as would the guitars. Mainstream rock loves a steroid-enhanced sound here, much like our ballplayers.I'd love to hear who agrees/disagrees with me.Adam

Re: The new guy... what do you think?
I loved the first song Love/Hate... I thought the singing was really really good, and I dig all the synth textures and the overall sound. The compression was killing me though, all the natural dynamics have been squashed out and it's distorting in the loud parts during the chorus.Just a little story, I was in Oslo on your independence day last year but when I got there I didn't know it was your independence day. So I started walking around the city and I was thinking 'how cool is this' cause everybody was wearing wooden shoes and those traditional kind of Norwegian clothes and stuff. I was thinking man what a cool place, everybody has so much national pride. It would be like if everybody in my town were walking around with 6 shooters and cowboy hats all the time.Anyway it took me about an hour to figure out it was some kind of celebration. What a beautiful place!Elser
