People get worked up over the dumbest things. I never thought I be glad that I write shallow lyrics.

I think you have a fundamentalist hit on your hands... Sorry, you reap what you sow. eo.If someone doesn't believe in what the bible says or if someone doesn't even believe there is a real God or that He might have some personal likes or dislikes or even some commentary on how his creations behave, then naturally, I can understand your viewpoint. The message of the song was tailored for a specific audience, people who believe that God exists and who also believe in what the bible has to say. The bible states that if you bless Israel, God will bless you. If you curse Israel, God will curse you. The bible says that Israel is the apple of God's eye and if you do anything against Israel, you will have God to answer to. Seeing that Obama is planning on dividing Jerusalem in half and giving half of it to their mortal enemies who want them dead, that would come under a curse for all of America. Jesus clearly stated that what a man reaps, he'll sow. But if you don't believe in Jesus or the bible, then none of this may have any meaning to you or even worse, appear as all the things you stated above. Sorry to offend you but I did warn you in my post heading. I guess the message is for people who both believe in God and believe that the bible is truthful...obviously, not you. I think you're using the phrase, 'what the bible says' when you really should be saying, 'what I (or my denomination) interpret the bible to mean here and now - in this day and age'. Which is a common thing - I think misunderstanding - in christian circles (I've grown up in such circles so I've heard it a lot!)I think you should go with Cameron's Leonard Cohen approach if you want to make this a serious song. Otherwise it will always have a very narrow audience. If it's true what you're saying, then the audience deserves to be wider - doesn't it?Cheers,Scott

Could you quote some specific text to support your argument and what do you mean by the words,(bless and curse)do these words have a specific meaning and therefore potential outcome.Benj.In the Book of Genesis, Chapter 12, Verse 1-3, we see what God says about His response to how people treat Israel:“And I will bless those that bless you and curse the one who curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.”In the Book of Numbers, where the Bible is telling us about the Nation of Israel that God delivers out of bondage in Egypt, it tells us:“He crouched. He lay down as a lion, and as a great lion. Who shall stir him up? Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you.” Zechariah 2:7-9 (New International Version) 7 "Come, O Zion! Escape, you who live in the Daughter of Babylon!" 8 For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After he has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye- 9 I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. [a] Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.

Those who curse Israel will be cursed and those who bless Israel will be blessed by God. If you mean that you would like definitions for the words curse and bless, you could look them up on the internet. As far as I know, they mean what you think they mean. I don't think there is a definition in the bible that's different from anywhere else. The scripture you quoted doesn't list the book of the bible it was taken from. Could you list the source please? I'd like to look these verses up. Thanks. I guess you could say from reading these verses that you quote, that even though humans are cautioned to not touch the apple of God's eye, Israel is still capable of making God unhappy with their actions and consequences apply. According to bible prophecy, a major world war will be fought over Israel. A large number of Israelis will die. However, Israel with prevail. Apparently, they are not immune to suffering.

Wow... Although I'm not a big fan of posting these types of lyrics here, it didn't seem that hard to me to stick to the song. I think the music is too soft and mushy for the intense lyric and that the whole part about Israel should be removed, not because of any one personal religious/political opinion, but because it will make the song less marketable- like it or not. I also agree that a more subtle, "show me, don't tell me" approach to the lyric would make it better.Casey

hmmm, sounds like that reverend Wright dude--or maybe somebody from Al Queda--but back to the song:i think the vocalist sounds like an old fart from a local church. if you're going to pitch this to any audience, IMHO get somebody to sing it that sounds more "today", and not some guy in a yellow and green suit, with too much hairspray.the best, warren

I told absolutely everyone that it was not a commercial song and that I could never sell it so why make a demo, right? After some arm twisting from various people, I finally agreed to make the demo. I've only had the demo for about a week. So far, the song has been performed twice in Church and a recording artist said he would love to record it. Now whether he will actually record it is another thing. This song is not Taxi material, unless someone comes along looking for a hard line Christian rock song like this. I suppose it could happen but it's not very likely. But, it seems to be entertaining people in spite of this.
