hey George, cool song! Gotta ditto the others about loosing the sax. Another thing, mess around with the eq on the bass a little bit because it seems to be beating up on the mix a little . . . It's really punchy (which is cool) but I think a warmer fuller tone is what this song needs . . . I think that might also make the vocals clearer.

Hey Geo,I love the story this lyric tells. It moves from section to section and stays interesting the whole way.I'm not able to stream right now for some reason (at work) but I'll take a listen when it clears up or when I get home.Best, cisko

Geo,Your style does seem a good fit for this listing and Perfect Place is well done. I think the vocals are especially solid. Don't know about the sax--it fits, but I'd be very tempted to do a mix without (and maybe submit both?).Bill had some good advice on the bass (and he is our resident "bottom man", right?). I think I'd spend some time on the drums here. From 1:44 during the break and through the sax solo to 2:39 (when the snare is syncopated), it doesn't feel quite right. Don't know if the snare is hitting directly on the beat, but something probably needs to slide one way or the other slightly.Probably because of the drum and guitar sounds, the mix seems to be missing something in the low-mid range. That's usually where things get muddy but in this case I think it could use more there.Good luck with the submission (music, that is)!Vince

Hi GeoExcellent track! I really like this! That's the good news. The possible bad news is it may not get forwarded for THIS listing. The party asked for songs with a contemporary feel but with the influences mentioned. Yes, that is a bit confusing and sometimes it's hard to tell how wide a range they are willing to go with. This song, which is excellent- well done all the way, still very much has a 60's/retro feel. I'm trying to put my finger on who it reminds me of-- Yardbirds? Animals? So, don't be too disappointed if it gets returned. However, there is a big market for 60's replacement tracks and this one may very well fit the bill for that. Best! CaseyNEW LISTING -- ROCK SONGS OF ALL STYLES are sought by a Los Angeles-based music publisher who has signed dozens of TAXI songs/writers and has been successful in securing film and television placements. HE is looking specifically for Rock songs that have a contemporary feel but with influences ranging all the way from classic to grunge. Target artists for reference include Aerosmith, Hinder, Poison, Pretenders, U2, Daughtry, The Who, Audioslave, Heart, The Killers and INXS....

Wow... I have been away awhile....I will do a "sax-less" mix as well... though I dig it I can see where it can hurt it.... I submitted this and a slower version to a listing looking for music for a show about families dealing with The Gulf War... thought they would make it but no dice... sax could've hurt me there... think I'll go with two versions....tt - thanks... Jeff, Carlos & Warren... the drum thing is most likely my playing not being tight... I am a bit of an unschooled musician... spent too much time trying to write songs when I should have been learning scales and such... will check the vocals when I remix...Patrick... thanks... I'll check the eq on that guit...Bill .... thanks.... the first bass line I did was furry and distorted... think I'll try that again....Thanks Cisko.... it's written for a buddy I lost over there... I worked with his girl so I saw the impact .... didn't want to write a sad song... so in his song the guy comes home....Thanks Vince.... I debated changing that snare before mix but left it.... I think when I remix I'll move the dirty guit into the low mids a bit see if that helps...Thanks K & Joey... I dig the B52'sCasey... me get disappointed at returns? Never ... thanks for the other listing.... I'll check that out... Thanks again everyone!!!Peace, Geo

Hi GeoI don't recall another listing-- maybe there is (?) but I'd keep an eye out for taxi and other opps for 60's replacement tracks. They do come up from time to time. Sometimes it's actually better to have niche songs to pitch... Libraries sometimes need those in the catalog and they are easy to "tag" and identify.BTW, if I'm wrong that it's 60's that's OK too. Some mentioned B-52's which is 80's. Either way, it comes down to how contemporary sounding the library wants the songs to be. Best Casey

Casey I forgot to mention my "ala's" for this song... the verses were styled around "Get Ready" by Rare Earth... the choruses "Radioactive" by Jimmy Paige... that's what I was into when I first wrote the music... 25 years ago... I'm just hoping the "All Styles" is broad enough even for me ...Peace, Geo

And the best thing I could read here in a few weeks is that I was WRONG and you were forwarded.Best of luck! Casey
