Shock the System
Here's a song from my debut album released in 2008... "Shock the System" (Industrial Electronica) stuff. There're certain things I'm not too happy abt in the track & I'm gonna modify it. Am considering submitting it to this listing:ELECTRONICA SONGS ranging from Dance/House to Chillout/Ambient a la Daft Punk, Air, Chemical Brothers, Thievery Corporation, etc., sought by President of successful Music Library/Publishing Company with extensive film and TV Placements (Kill Bill 2, the Punisher, Las Vegas, the Shield, Bones, One Tree Hill, Van Wilder 2 + many more). Broadcast quality needed - great sounding home demos are fine but must sound excellent - he is very picky about this. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Thursday, March 26, 2009.
TAXI #S090326ELI could definitely use some critical feedback on it. Pointers to improve the track itself & also to fit the listing. Appreciate.Shock the System:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... m=true-Kel

Re: Shock the System
No doubt, send it in!!! I am no authority on mixing and production, but I think it sounds great. Also, it's an S listing so I would send it even to just get the critique to learn from. But I think it will def get forwarded!! The only thing that lost me was the breakdown. It seemed a little repetitive, which is fine with that style, but it doesn't build up to the explosion I anticipated, instead it sort of went into another kind of breakdown, then a little build up and back into the main. Again, I am no authority and it is probably just the metal head in me looking for some of that guitar work I heard in your other stuff!! But no doubt, ITS BAD ASS!! SEND IT IN!! keep on DOING IT UP!!!

Re: Shock the System
Hi Kel,Your main loop is great. Very pro sounding quality, and something I would expect to hear in the depths of Base Station or any of a number of clubs in London for that matter too... To me, your breakdown in the middle doesn't totally gel with the rest of the track as much. Not sure about the tabla drums - they just seem a little bit random. It's probably just my style, but for a dance track I would prefer the breakdown/build to be more of that - break the track down then build it up, rather than just "different", and in that regard I (personal pref again) would prefer if you built into the loop again rather than stopped, then had the main loop start. But this isn't a listing for a dancefloor track - it's for a sound library... so...Regarding fit-for-listing, I'm not really much of a listing person myself, but the only bit where your track really could be a little off is that it's got a spoken word as its vocal rather than something with melody (which many of the a las' better known tracks have). To me that may not be important because I can imagine your track in the right scene of the right movie, but it may be a sticking point... That said if it was me I would risk the $5.Good luck.tt

Yeah Kel!I would definitely send it in. It has a great club feel to it and reminds me of Prodigy and Chemical Bros a little.I sort of agree about the breakdown. It does sort of stifle the momentum of the tune. I would trim that out in an editor and just go with the transition out of the breakdown.Still I don't think it is a deal breaker. This track is a forward in my opinion. I would surprised if they passed.Best of luck,Cisko

Re: Shock the System
I'm not really familiar with the specific artists mentioned in the listing as I don't really listen to a lot of electronica. Therefore, there maybe some production elements that your song may or may not need as it relates to broadcast quality that I'm just not gonna be aware of. But just listening to the track with the limited interaction I've had with this genre, to my ears, it sounds good man. I'll let the experts in the genre give you more detailed advice, but I think you should submit it.- Big Blue
Imagine a steel cage match between Daughtry, Coldplay, Paramore and Demon Hunter with Joe Satriani as the referee...
