One Step Removed

Post by tedsingingfox » Sat Mar 07, 2009 10:24 am

Sure hope this link works. First time I've tried it in a while...JUST got out of the studio yesterday evening...this is a rough mix of a very FAST demo (we only had 3 hours to go from zero to this...)http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... am=trueONE STEP REMOVEDMy neighbor he's a crazy bitter jobless drunken bastardHe's got eight dogs and spends all day watching TV getting plasteredHe bugs me anytime of day or night when he feels sad or lonelyAnd he's not a friend but I comfort him'Cause truth be told you know I'm onlyOne step removedOnly one step removedI'm only one step removed from that guyAnd there but for the grace of God go INow I've heard it said there's only six degrees of separationBetween the Saints and those who regularly give in to temptationAnd if the Lord above came down to earth to find the biggest sinnerWell, he'd probably point right at meAnd say We got ourselves a winnerOne step removedOnly one step removedI'm only one step removed let me testifyCause there but for the grace of God go IbridgeFor some folks life is a two-stepAnd for some folks it's more like twelveI think most folks live just a few short stepsBetween the pearly gatesAnd the gates of that other placeMe, I'm just one step removedOnly one step removedI'm only one step removed and don't ask whyCause if I told you you would cryOne step removedOnly one step removedI'm only one step removed let me testifyAnd there but for the grace of God go I

Holy Moley. Ya know, I even followed (what I thought were) clear instructions on how to post that link. TAXI.... you guys have GOT to make this process easier. I know that me, personally, I have been bitching about this since the Rally last year. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you can navigate your way to my TAXI page, just listen to the song. For now. Hopefully, I'll find a way to alter/fix the current link so y'all can actually GET to the song.Ted

Ted,Cool song. Catchy. Interesting message, with a lot of truth in it, well presented!!!! Good lyric, but I think it could be a bit better, like these 2 lines:And the gates of that other place ... instead of using 'the gates' again .. how about 'the fire' or .....I'm only one step removed and don't ask whyCause if I told you you would cry.... I'm not sure these 2 lines really work that well .. maybe its just melove the bridge and verse lyricDean

hi Ted!i'm having the same problem, but it's only with SOME of the taxi site orange things--EVERYTIME IT SAYS THAT =true THING, the damned thing won't work for me. i have not heard enough of your tunes, my fault probably, and i sure as hell want to hear your song! can you post the "major" site thingee (damn i'm a technical wizard, no? LOL...)all the best, warrenPs: edit--read the lyrics, and you sure have some very good things going on there my friend!

Ted, I love your opening line. I have no serious familiarity with the genre, but if it's kosher to use that type of language, then that is a faultless way to start a song.Clever concept, message and lyrics (especially the "two-step" vs "12 steps"), and glad I listened.tt

Oh, man. Thanks, y'all for taking the time to listen and for the VERY kind words.Warren, I'm not sure what "major site thingy" you're referring to, as I am even LESS of a techno geek than you. <hhh>Really appreciate the feedback tt and mark.FWIW, yes, that IS me singing. And while I have been a little worried about that word in the opening line, I swear...just three days ago, I heard a song on KKTC/True Country in which the lead singer used the phrase, "you can bet your ass...", TWICE. I think if he can get away with that, I can get away with that opening line.Sure HOPE so, anyway...
