I didn't have any problem with the link, tho I do with some...don't know why.Ted,I'm afraid I'm not familiar with your tunes and as such I don't know if this is for an established artist pitch or your own release.I will say the demo needs some fixin'.The steel in the first few bars has some clipping. The whole thing feels a tad loose to me, (acoustic strum on the left goes in and out) and the drums feel a bit stiff with no fills or crashes setting up the sections.Personally I like the song, but for an established artist?...I don't know.

Thanks, y'all.RLD... this is just a fast demo of a song I've been working on (and LOVE, personally). I have ZERO desire to be "an artist" with an entourage and 200 yes-men telling me how great I am...what a miserable existence that must ultimately be. And this isn't an artist pitch. Just a fun song I've been desperate to demo for months now.Let me state again that we only had three hours to come up with this. I realize it needs some fixin', and I thought I was clear about that in my original post. total pre-fab drum track/click track. It was all we had time for. (3 hours, total, remember? )the pedal steel player only got to hear the tune twice before running his passes. Me, personally, I don't honestly know enough about the recording/mixing process to make any deeper or more relevant comment than that. Sorry. No matter how little I know, I'll pass this on to the engineer as something to take a look at next time I can afford to pay for some of his time. Thanks.

i really liked your lyrics, although i couldn't listen to the music. on the bridge, i reeeeeally wanted you to just say "gates of hell" because it rhymes with 12, but hey, whatever, we're all saying it in our heads anyways, so maybe it doesn't matter. nice job, Ted!erin

HeeHeeHee...Hey, Erin. Thanks for the feedback. And that is EXACTLY the reaction I was hoping to elicit. As we all know, in the country market, it's better to let the listeners see/hear/imagine for themselves, rather than spelling it out for them.wooHOO! I think I'm getting a little better at this.Thank you, again, to ALL of y'all for chiming in. SO Much.

Very good. Great fun. Verse lyrics wonderful, chorus spirited & fun. Has a lot of character. Up tempo. Dig the imagery. You use "steps" in the bridge but it's part of the hook. You might want to look at that.HAL

Hey sorry Ted,I just figured you were looking for ideas.Quote:As we all know, in the country market, it's better to let the listeners see/hear/imagine for themselves, rather than spelling it out for them.Thats an interesting take you've got there. I happen to think it's actually just the opposite, but thats JMO. Note to all: I find that with these links, I can only get them to work if I right click and "Save Target As", saving the file on my computer. Then I can play it. So I keep a temp folder on my machine for listening.Ted,It's great to see you making new music! Cool song! I really like the subject and lyrics. I don't know where things fall for Nashville high-bar, others can help there. But I know I really like it! The one part of the lyric that bothered me (it might be only me) was: ...don't ask whyCause if I told you you would cryAnd that's because I kept hearing CSNY's "Teach Your Children" in my head with a very similar line. But I've heard industry folks say, "borrow from the best"...Best of luck with this and with your Nashville journey!! Casey

Thanks, y'all, for listening. And for the terrific feedback. No worries, RLD. Thanks, again, for the ears and the info. Thanks, HAL. Actually, that was a conscious choice to mention different kinds of steps, plural, in the bridge ... to help emphasize the "one STEP" of the chorus. Thanks, Casey. We'll see how it flies. I'm seriously thinking about giving this one a custom critique. I think there's some real potential here. Thanks, again, everybody.
