Taxi HIPHOP collab (with fry112 & slideboardouts)

Post by deantaylor » Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:46 am

I wrote the lyric. Stephen Baird (slideboardouts) produced the beats and did the mix, JAboy Fry (fry112) created the voice line and he performs it. Stephen still has a little work to do on the mix, but it is sounding pretty good now .... tell us what you think about it as is.http://www.mp3unsigned.com/showmp3.asp?mp3id=58105 click on lyric button to readThanks,Dean, JAboy and Stephen---------------------------------------------------------------------A BIG THANKS to all the taxi forum members who very generously volunteered to record and be in our Bounce Crowd Effect:Dick (slowdance)Juliet (hazineju)Chris (yammer107)Marc (marcblack30)Jill (Marc’s wife)Dan (www.thewaifers.com)Stephen (slideboardouts)

Sweet.... Well like I said Dean - 'A Rapper I aint' - but glad to contribute to the crowd effect. Tight sound. I still hear a hint of the 70's tv themes in here someplace .... like theme to 'Baretta' ( Keep your eye on the Sparrow) or Magnum PI. Certainly not to imply it sounds dated - just what pops in my head each time I hear it, must be the strings. Thanks for posting! Chris

Great track guys!!It has a great vibe that reminds me of the Just Blaze tracks on Jay Z's records. I think we are going to see a quick forward and some placements for this one!!Bravo,Cisko

hey dean.. yeah nice guys! this is a tight track and I agree with cisko.. reminds me of some jay-z music wise. I love the horns. I like the mix a lot.. everything in it's place... a think a good mastering job will take it over the top. congrats on this!mc yammer in the house too.

Sounds like it could sell, the horns sound kinda cheesy, they dont have that chopped up sample feel nor do they have a live or good synth timbre. The drums feel kinda weak i would pump them up some more. Voice is also kinda quiet in the mix, the female vocals come in sharp and overpowering. No hats? Even just hats on 8th notes would push it along well. Not a big fan of the beat, there is no real progression and the hook sounds like the space jam sound track.

Patrick, thanks for the feedback.IG, thanks. Appreciate you taking the time. It's funny, I hear the female vocals differently from you. I think they should be a little more 'present' in the mix. Dean

IG, actually we may be hearing the same thing on the female bvs .. there was a last minute lead vocal change on this mix and Steve did not have time to adjust the female bvs as much as he wanted to integrate them with the new male lead vox .. the new lead is a bit more powerful than the old, hence why I think the female vox need a bit more 'presence'.Dean

It is of course my own opinion as everything i say would be, i still think the drums are to distant and lack progression.
