Holy Crap, All 10's!!!!
I've never had a score higher than an 8 for anything, and this screener gave me straight 10's across the board for this one!! I'm in shock right now. This just totally made my day A range of great-sounding ACTION INSTRUMENTALS [no vocals] are wanted by a U.K.-based Music Library/Publishing Co. for TV placement. In their own words: "We are seeking a variety of dramatic modern instrumentals with emphasis on energetic cinematic movement throughout the piece with a strong percussive edge. Any instrument emulations must be indistinguishable from the real thing. Stylish and slick production is essential; think movement within film trailers."http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

Again, thank you guys for the kind comments and the listen. Now I just have to hope that the U.K.-based Music Library/Publishing Company thinks that this song is an "On target/ all 10's" piece!

Boy, that sure is super, boardman! And from listening to your track, your screener was right on target-- that's some great production that you did! Super slick indeed!! I'll be waiting for your post on this in the "deal" section soon -- bet it won't be long for you. The team at that UK company should be thrilled to get this one in their mailbox. Keep up the great work!Raags

Thank you very much for the very insightful response. This forum has given me a great deal of information over the past few months and it is an extremely valuable tool to fellow musicians. I'm sure I do know more than I realize, but I just want to me mentally prepared for whatever presents itself to me in the near future.Ever since joining taxi, I've become borderline obsessed with composing music and reading this forum (Once I get into something, I can become a fanatic with it ). I don't think many of us reading realize how important this forum really is in furthering our knowledge of this crazy topic. I will continue to get as much out of this as I possibly can and I want to thank everyone who has helped me/listened to my music/given constructive criticism/pointed me in the right direction in the past.YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Quote:I know this might seems weird, but then again maybe not. This forum has so much information about that kind of stuff, it's incredible actually. After 1&1/2 years of reading and participating here, I have a bit of a handle on who's posts I can reference with regards to this kind of stuff. I find I learn best when I tackle a large subject like this, and divide it into little targets of knowledge. Get specific about what you think you don't know. I might need to work on this particular subject, for another 20 years. But my life has always been about watching people interact. Just click on anyone's name, and then search through a couple thousand of their posts. I tell you, it's phenomenal, how much you can learn. Pull up Casey's considerable contributions, Matto's and Hummingbirds. Spend the time reading what they have to say, they same way you would if you're reading a book written by someone you love. (I'm not disrespecting anyone else's input here.) IMHO, those 3 cats have entered the greatest number of posts on the concept of professional behavior, so start with them. Or do a search for the word "professional" Don't do a search for behavior, cause you'll get a whack of posts by JD1 and myself, that will likely lead you astray. While you're skimming thru anyone's individual posts, cross reference an entire thread that their post was in response to, especially if it looks like there was any kind of argument or scrap going on. It's immensely satisfying to me to see these 3 people care, and share their knowledge and opinions so effortlessly. They each have different ways of being professional, and are usually willing to communicate with PMs about specific issues, as long as you are NICE. Some people are born with the ability to come across as nice, some learn it the hard way. My guess, is that you know a lot more than you think you do, and you'll be enjoying a lot of "aha" moments, where the puzzling thoughts in your head, start fitting into place. You have to figure out how to communicate in ways that work for you and your personality, and of course you have to keep in mind who you're trying to talk to, and what they expect. Quote:As most of you probably know, I'm still pretty new at the whole composing for specific listings thing and the music industry in general. Needless to say, I've never received a deal or been handed a contract for any of my music.I have been reading a lot of posts lately about etiquette, professionalism, and overall knowledge of the industry and I decided to purchase a book off amazon called, "You've Got A Friend In The 'Biz: A Practical Guide To The Music Industry For Musicians & Aspiring Representatives". The book covers topics like contracts, deals, music libraries, etc. I was wondering if any of you guys new of any other good literature on this topic so that if a deal does present itself, I can be somewhat prepared.Any ideas????What Steve didn't tell you is, he is a great keyboard player a great songwriter and a great guy. However he does have a problem getting and keeping friends.I try to be his friend but it is a difficult and sometimes impossible job.Steve and I went to the same charm school,I graduated and he didn't so if his manner seems a bit abrasive sometimes, don't worry about it just contact the Mods and complain. That's what I do and they suspend him for a week and that gives him a chance to reflect on his behavior. It also helps if you tell him how handsome he is........that works because he spends so much time looking in the mirror he doesn't have time to tap away on his PC.Just one last thing,if you see Steve and I arguing, don't worry about it just leave us to get on with it,especially if the subject of a three humped camel comes up.That's about it really .
