Hard to say...its got kind of a "New Age" feel to it.I'm afraid some of the attacks on the string lines and piano sound a little unnatural to me...In other words, the illusion of real players comes and goes.

I can take something valuable from that. The technology is circa 1989 - Roland XP-30 synth.I may invest in a library with some more updated patches, but what I focus on is the actual notes played, not what they are played upon. That is a very hard thing for people to get over. I can tell a synth patch from the real thing in about two seconds. Fortunately I can imagine what a better patch would sound like.Wig

Re: Film music listing?
Hey Wig.. Ive not submitted to many of these types of listings, so ill probly be of little help here.. Anyways a couple listings i saw maybe some potential fits for.. Quote:NEW LISTING -- INSTRUMENTAL WEDDING MUSIC is needed by President of Indie Jazz label who is compiling music for a wedding CD to market in giftshops for the summer of 2009. " I thought this might be a candidate, maybe add some bells or something here and there.. dress it up a little...? Quote:WACKY/FUN/WHIMSICAL INSTRUMENTALS are sought after by a Major Music Publisher with distribution through a huge Production Music Library. This Publisher is also an Emmy-winning Composer for daytime television and this is a fantastic opportunity to be introduced to a Publishing/Licensing relationship as well as the possibilities of future composition projects with a VERY successful industry pro. Excellent original tracks, performances and recordings are a must! Be sure these tracks are fun, quirky, "off the wall" and very bright/happy. Maybe modified a little, although i really don't know what they're after with this one..Quote:'80s NEW WAVE INSTRUMENTALS a la Duran Duran, The Human League, Erasure, Depeche Mode, etc. are wanted by a very successful Production Music Library who has placements with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, Disney, Discovery, Lifetime, Fox, USA, etc.Probably would need drums or a percussion groove imo, which might sit nicely under the sounds and vibe you got going on in this song.Again, i am outta my realm here, sorry, other folks can give you better ideas/sugg's.Good LuckJamie

I really appreciate your input. I'll probably give these a shot during my soon to come, last hurrah.I plan to submit about six songs soon, some S/S and some C/A as well as inspirational orchestral listings. When I am rejected because I am not Steve Soucy, I will ask TAXI for a refund, which was promised if not satisfied after the first year.I don't know anybody with any pull at TAXI, so it makes little sense to knock my head against a wall. I have yet to get a tune forwarded. Bad stars, man, not bad music.Wig

I loved the "bass" line, it drives the song forward. I didn't like the piano hitting so hard though, it sounded a bit metallic to my ears. If you want this song to hit the target in movies/TV/video games etcetera, I would like to hear some elements of surprise. It's a bit plain, I think it needs more dynamics and better string/piano sound. The song itself is very good, but add some more flavor to it. What software are you using?

Are you trying to bait me into some kind of discussion about the merits of your tunes, or how Taxi should be choosing yours? Get in line man. If you haven't gotten a forward, it's more than likely because none of the songs you submitted were what the listing needed. Pretty simple really. And would you like to see how many returns I've enjoyed over the last 2 years? We all have our cross to bear Wig. But if I had two pints of beer sitting in front of me and you sat down at my table, I'd still gladly offer you one of em. I hope we meet someday so I can shake your hand. Steve Soucy

Twenty year old technology is ancient in the music technology world. To play this game of submissions and forwards and returns requires new tools. We are competing with the best of the best for positions in libraries and placements in tv and film.Fortunately, the tools are getting better and cheaper by the month. (EZ Drummer at GC for $99 etc. etc.)I would not necessarily put the blame on TAXI for not having forwards. You are operating at a disadvantage with your sounds, no matter how great your material may be.Do a search of production music libraries and listen to what is out there. Or for that matter, turn on the TV and LISTEN to CSI or House or 24. That is the standard to which we have to aspire. This is posted in the spirit of helping you. I went thru this same thing my first year. I dreaded hearing the "your sounds are dated"Chuck

Wig,I like the piece. It certainly has potential and you are not way off. Probably you just need better sounds .. 2009 quality .. and I do agree that the piano is a bit too hard at times. Keep working at improving it.Dean
