2 forwards for POP & POP/ROCK songs

Post by bigbluebarry » Thu Apr 10, 2008 1:33 pm

A fairly wide range of current-sounding POP & POP/ROCK SONGS with VOCALS (no instrumentals) from Hilary Duff and Jesse McCartney to the more mature sounds of Michelle Branch and Teddy Geiger, and all the way to the Goo Goo Dolls and the Counting Crows are needed by an LA-based Music Library headed up by veterans of that industry. Male or female vocals are fine. Great vocal and instrumental performances are essential. No lyrical restrictions - all themes are OK [no profanity, though]. And make sure your samples are pre-cleared. They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal - you keep your original copyrights. Broadcast quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. Submissions must be received by Mar. 28, 2008. Thanks Devin! I wish I could take credit for the vocals and the vocabulary lesson, but both of those belong to my co-writer, Joel. Don't feel bad, I had to look up the word too

LOL! I have a similar situation...I watch the DAW screen while my friend Terry plays guitar...at the end, when I turn around, I ask "how the heck did you play that?!?!"He just says "with my fingers and a pick". D'Oh! P.S. Looking forward to another metal song from you. I sure hope Taxi keeps asking for it...because you and B-Flat are providing my fix!!!

ahh... thanks man.. I hope they keep asking for them too. I can write metal all day long I'm digging the stuff that B-Flat has been putting out too! There's a lot of talented people here. It really opens your eyes when you hear how strong your competition is, just from the forum members, not to mention the members that don't take the time to visit the boards. But as someone, somewhere once said, "What doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger." I'm competitive by nature so this whole Taxi experience for me has been awesome. It's really pushed me to continue to want to get better and to take the steps necessary to do so. I'm loving it! Haven't gotten any deals yet, but I'm just as patient as I am competitive

I hear ya on the patient thing...and I'm going to need a boat load. First I need to create something good enough to share here...then I'll graduate to my "first forward" posting someday...then I'll land a deal, etc and so on.I try to look at it this way:#1. We all help each other get better...and help each other crack into the business.#2. In this regard, it's all of us trying to grab some cake that's on "the other side" of the forward fence. And there's plenty to go around (thanks to M Laskow et al)...I think the better job we do, the bigger the market gets, so we can make our own demand by being excellent. There's all kinds of tasty music getting into TV and commercials, for example...I'm noticing cool music all the time now.#3. I'm sure if both you and the good Mr. Flat (and all the others that I'm not aware of yet) keep writing wicked stuff, you'll all get to the next desk anyway...it's not like it's limited seating, from what I understand. It's more like "you must be this good to get on this ride". If we're good enough, there's still plenty of seats! Keep leading the way, so I have something cool to listen to while I'm running to catch up, OK?
