UPDATE & Romeo & Juliet inspired instrumental

Post by che » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:31 pm

For those of you who have been around awhile, I'm sure you've heard over and over again, me talking about my kids. Well, I have an update:-) Tadjh (goes by iTALY) my soon to be 18 year old has been accepted to CCM (College Conservatory of Music) at UC in their Electronic Media program. He also has a contract with a music library (through Taxi) and is involved in a new program the Grammy organization is starting. They've chosen 7 or so high school age kids to be pioneers in this so once we know more...I'll update you. He has also discovered a new found love for acting (theater) ....go figure, and has had his music featured in 2 of the 3 plays he been in so far. Here's a link to the most recent piece he did for Romeo & Juliet. The guidelines were for him to start with the original score, then have a needle scratch and go into hip hop (urban). I thought it was interesting how he perceived it.http://taxi.com/billayb song titled "R&J Inspired"(Tried to link actual song, with no luck, sorry)Here's the actual link http://www.taximusic.com/stream/213318/ ... spired.mp3(courtesy of Johnathanm)Thanks for listening!!!Tricia

I liked the beginning very much, nice transition from the orchestra to the beat. Soft and nice! I can picture this playing in the background at some kind of a bar maybe? The ending was a bit abrupt I think.

Orest, Thanks, I will let him know. If he decides to pitch it he will have to take out the beginning. Don't think it's royalty free. This was used during the opening segment of they play under a monolouge and was meant to end abruptly. Maybe he should look at that also if he decides to submit it.Thanks jonathan for the comment and the link. It use to be way easier to link them up.

Well, I think the ending could work in a movie, but as a stand alone piece it should be warmer. If he used a CD or something like that, a recording, I think like you that it's not free to use. You could ask someone here that has a decent orchestra program (like me ) to record the intro!

Orest,I will mention to him that maybe he could get it replayed by someone ;-). It was from a download. Seeing as it was created for a very specific performance, I doubt that he will revist it. He will probably just mute the beginning and use it as a stand alone submission with no reference to R&J. Then again it might never leave the computer. It might enter never ever land like so many other instrumentals he's created. I cannot keep up with him. I've been trying to help him catalog them, but he creates them too fast for me to keep up. I handle all the listings etc... but him or his father have to help me remember what's what. One day we'll get it under control Vince - Thanks!!! He's excited about CCM. Seeing as that's the "only" college he applied to...so am I.
