"Photograph" [Alt-Rock]

Post by heckxx » Thu Feb 12, 2009 8:01 pm

Hey all, I just finished up this nearly-complete mix of this song today. Just looking for some feedback and suggestions, before I finalize the song in a few weeks. Let me know what you think! Thanks http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7332 ... graph"This candlelight is slowly fading awayOur time runs out with every breath we takeAnd the oxygen is floating miles awayThis surely is the final kiss we'll makePlease don't you cryLet me focus into youAnd keep you aliveThese photographs so specialI'll never let them fadeI'll hide them well behind these wallsOur memories are safeOur memories so preciousThey're formed from fragile glassWe shared our tears in secrecyWe tried to make this lastPlease don't you cryLet me focus into youAnd keep you aliveWe will shoot this lens one more timeAnd we will shoot this lens one more timeOur time runs outI say goodbyeOur secret's outOur candles diePlease don't you cryLet me take your photographAnd keep you alivePlease don't you cryLet me focus into youAnd keep you aliveLet me take your photograph...

Good production. Nice stereo field. Solid vocs. Drums and bass mix well. I particularly liked the kick. A good combination of beater and umph. I almost gaged at intro with the obvious sampled drums and brush hits. Luckily it didn't last long.Solid song.

Agree that the intro needs some work, tune sounds great at :20 sec in and on. Guitars are a little distant and 'fluffy' to my ears, but I'm an old worn out tele-picker.... I'd also prefer to hear the leads that come in around 1:50 in the center of the stereo field rather than in HUGE stereo (but, like I said I'm an old worn out tele picker)Very nice production and vibe overall. I'd say get the intro sounds better and you've got a killer cut here.

Thanks for the comments guys! Well, the intro drums are supposed to sound sampled/electronic, but I'll definitely look into finding a better snare sound there.-Jeff

Nice production, Jeff--you always do a good job on that, especially guitars. On the electronic drum intro, you might consider processing them even more. Right now, they sound too much like bad samples.I'd like to hear more atmospherics on the vocal--maybe just in the chorus? I'd probably experiment with that.Vince

Nice piano mix. Umm remember when Nickleback already had that song title? It was instantly repelling to be honest. Thank god its not that recycled bullfish. Well you did a good job making a catchy emo song. Little 13 year old girls mad at their parents will eat this up. Soooo are you gonna stick with this style? Its already been done so much its like force feeding the american culture a bunch of catchy predictable non sense. The entire mix is perfect. Come on though... really? I cant tell the difference between this and taking back Sunday and that whole following that has been going on for way too long. Oh well it makes money. Good Job

Actually, I totally forgot Nickelback put out a song of the same exact title, lol. I don't think it really sounds like Taking Back Sunday, their music to me is much more indie-ish, less rock-ish, if that makes any sense. I do know what you mean about this genre as a whole tho, it is very trendy and such, but I do try to make it as unique as I can.-Jeff

Man once again great production! I love the intro drums. Arrangement is killer. Maybe I need to get you to help arrange/produce one of my songs and split writing credits or something. ;-)
