Re: Ice Cream and Arsenals
I just submitted this song to Broadjam. Here is the listing:Looking for: Rock & Singer/SongwriterExplicit Lyrics Accepted: NoInstrumentals Accepted: YesMovie Genre: DramaDescription: Sgt. Cole Lewis, mentally and physically scarred by his time serving in Iraq, finds humanity, compassion and friendship in a group of similarly injured vets at a rundown VA hospital. But just as their luck starts to change, the ghosts of war re-emerge, leading Lewis and his buddies down a path of guilt, desperation and self-destruction.Any opinions as to whether or not this is on target are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wig

Hey Wig!! I like this better! It is definitely different. Not sure it's Rock but then who knows. I really like the change in lyric to Ice Cream FOR Arsenals as that seems to hit home quicker for me. Good message and if that description was from the listing I think you got as good a shot as anybody here!! I still think the toms could use a little harnessing when you do the final... Just my dos.Good Luck,

Snare needs to pop more. I'd like to hear the drums played more natural, they sound like you played them with a midi editor, no dynamics (i.e. the 16th note double hits need to sound natural, with bleedover, unfortunately, they are the same dynamic)Guitars need to be miced instead of running direct, or if direct, use a decent pickup and preamp. However, this is miles better than the first version. Much more enjoyable. You just need to even out the mix. Watch that 400 hz area. Increase it.

hi wigs--i dig this still, and this version imho is quite ready to submit to S/S listings--and if they ever come up with any more of them "protest" venue tunes, (i'm waiting too...) submit there to man..very nice job.i do NOT KNOW CRAP about production, dididog has to my ears good points--i know you're probably using midi drums, and one suggestion this NON producer would have to try might be to reverb the snare 1/16th or delay just a bit? that MIGHT help with the lack of bleed, ...but hell, i no nothing 'bout birthin' no babies either--well, actually i do...but that's another story...the best, nice job, i like it allot!warren

Part twoski on the redoski: Much improved production. Much improved stereo field. I liked the bass freqs. If you are using midi drums then download some groove monkee midi files. There are many that are free! You could spend many hours manually tweeking the dynamic hits yourself(a lesson in itself) Bottom line is that the drums need some ER surgery to improve to the next level.Good job on the redo. Major improvements.p.s. the noise-hiss on the left channel at the end should...well disappear

Re: Ice Cream and Arsenals
Cool neoprotest tune. Great irony in the title / chorus. The only thing that disturbed me when listening with a non-critical ear, was the guitar. It seems a bit forward and heavy in the low mids--but I think that's been covered already. For me, this tune envokes Warren Zevon. Some of his stuff might provide some good sonic examples for this type of song. There's a home for this song, somewhere, IMO.Randy
