six decades and still rockin

Post by feaker » Tue Feb 10, 2009 1:49 pm

Yes indeed. February 11th 1949. Third child(of five) of Marie and Charles Feak. (thus feaker)My girls traveled 1400 and 350 miles to surprise dad Friday night for the celebration. Thought at first the ticker wasn't going to make it. Sat down and took another toporol and things slowly got better.Everybody had orange (fav color) t-shirst reading "six decades and still rocking" and the five grandkids shirts said "my grandpa rocks". Thirty five family members doing shots etc, what a scene. Settled down and played some hold-em poker. I played acoustic and some favorite family tunes. My mother's favorite was "cowboy sweetheart. My dad's "moon river". My sister's sloop John b. Myself and two other brothers always do rocky Racoon. I sang "you've got a friend" and many cried. It was the most fabulous of nights. All five grandkids sitting on gramps lap. It does not get any better than that.I hope all of you can enjoy music as long as I have and better yet if you can still play a little. I am starting to forget some chords as of late. Had to stop in the middle of "fire and rain:) Voice is about shot too. Can still play yet though.Anyhow, thanks for being a friend here on this forum. I hope to be around maybe this time next year.I wrote a short ditty about being sixty ( one minute long) when I was a little sad about this event and before my grandkids arrived.SincerelyPaulhttp://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo. ... 1474SixtyI was thrown into this big world sixty years agoNow I’m looking back what have I doneLove and children trials and troublesAll along the wayNow I’m thankful just to see the sunTake a minute, reflect your lifeDid ya do some goodIf you could go and do it overDo you think you would ?I just hope I made a differenceI know I’ve triedMaybe I’ll do more before I die

hi pablo feak!i'm still very proud of you my friend, and you are one of my heroes--and as i've said to you many times, your voice still sounds like a kid--and with all the blessings you have told us about...that's just one more! your friend,oh, almost forgot--ALL THE BEST! seems like you got it though already...warrenps: as i've been turning each year i come up with a little slogan for friends and family, "still alive at 55". "56 still got the hips", and we'll 57 in abril, and i'm not sure about my first choice, 57 and goin' to heavan..LOL..but i'm worken on it. and for you, i'd say you're "60 and still quite nifty"LOL..but better might be "60 and fellin' 50". regardless, every birthday the running joke around here for me is to say, "yeah, i've finally matched my IQ!" you can use it, ususally gets a mild chuckle..xoxowh
