Bring Me Back - Rock Song
Greetings,Here is a song that I have working on and am hoping to get some opinions on it. I'm thinking about submitting it for an upcoming dispatch looking for hooky Alt/Indie songs. It is rock but am not sure what flavor. Classic, roots, Alt/indie or all or the above? Your input is appreciated. Thanks for listening.Randyhttp://www.prenticephoto.com/band/Bring_Me_Back.mp3Bring Me Back I sit in the dark, between of walls of despairScraps of anger, everywhereExplanations, they're bringing me down Refusing to say, why you are gone Bring me back(Won't you) Bring me back(Why don't you) Bring me back, all the love that you stole from meNobody's right,Nobody's wrong,Nobody knows that I'm out of controlNobody hears my songBring me back(Won't you) Bring me back(Why don't you) Bring me back, all the love that you stole from meWhere have you goneWhy did you go Whos your new friend, Whos your new friend, Whos your new friend, Whos your new friend, nowYou broke my heart and now you want to be friends You know, cuz I told you sotoo many teardrops over the edgePhilisophical, that's what I'll beIt's not so easy, when one has to leave No need to be sad anymoreI'll follow the light that's coming under the doorBring me back(Won't you) Bring me back(Why don't you) Bring me back, all the time that you stole from meWhere have you gone, Why did you goBring me back(Won't you) Bring me back(Why don't you) Bring me back, all the time that you stole from meWhere have you gone, Why did you goWhos your new friend, Whos your new friend, Whos your new friend, Whos your new friend, now

A good sounding mix. I think that the voc are well placed and just the right volume since I could make out the words without the sheet and they did not overbear the instruments. I am on the fence as to whether I like the drums or not. The sound is minimally good enough. The kick mix with the bass is pretty good. I suppose the drums are 70s-ish.

Hi Carlos,Yeah, I'm bummed about the snare sound. No gush. And the toms are lousy. The drums tracks were recorded a couple of years ago in a so-called 'pro' studio where I paid $$$. I could blame the engineer or the drummer but in the end it was my fault for not paying enough attenton to getting the right sound on the front end. Thought I could fix in the mix, but no. Sh*& in, Sh#% out. A valuable lesson learned. Now I record it all myself and get far better results. There is a drum replacement software that I demo-ed called Drumagog. I tried it with this song and it worked well, but the demo had only a few inappropriate samples. I should do my part and help prop up the economy by ordering it.Thanks for the candid and accurate feedback.Randy

RandyI see why there aren't a lot of comments on your song. When you end your listen, you think "I'm not sure what to say"?The production is very good. The raspy vox is good. There is something about the way the lyrics flow that throws me off. It almost sounds like you are reading them for the first time. Not the pitch. Maybe all the identiacal notes like "all the love that you stole from me". Timing is almost too perfect?I only wrote these comments because the song has some good things happening in there.I found that improving the vocal is the easiest repair to be made. Because of my lack of talent, I usually don't say much, but maybe there is something there?good luckPaul

Hey Randy, the drums sound very 70's in tone but I'm getting that vibe from the entire song. I think this just might be one of those songs that would be best for pitching to the ala 70's & classic rock opps that arise. That's actually not a bad thing, they pop up quite a bit. I do think that another vocal pass with more "attitude" might help the track.

IcemanI only do instrumentals mainly because, Hey I can't sing... I don't listen to lyrics and I couldn't tell you from listening what your song is about. But I do listen to melody lines and other things. I like the tone of the vocals as well as all your melodies. All of this is executed very well along with the tasteful backing vocals. I didn't hear anything that stood out as a glitch. The whole vocal thing was different but in a good way. The drum sound has already been discussed and so I won't beat that down other than to say I agree with the comments above. I also enjoyed your fluid guitar work and there were some nice dynamics in there. I wouldn't say this is main stream rock even though it has some of those elements. Therefore it would have to be Alternative Rock IMO. Thanks for sharing!Keith
I hear the voice of God in a bending guitar string!
