Is this any good?
here's something I did a long time ago. The drums were a mess, played very out of time & i didn't feel like the song was worth trying to salvage. I listened to it today & couldn't remember why I didn't like it so I tried to play bass again along with the crappy drums. It's still a little off in places, at least it should be very "live" sounding lol! Thing is, now I don't think I like the song (again). I was contemplating trying to do some better backup vox etc. but I dunno . . .what do you think? fix or ditch? be honest, like I said I'm not even sure myself.http://www.billgaunce.com/song/110

i really dig it! i'm tellin' you, your music sounds SO much like what we down South call "Texas music"...you should move to Texas and gig...i think you'd be a hit. love your voice, too!one minor thing is the 3rd verse seemed a little ambiguous to me...i think it'd be better if you'd put more details in it instead of the "packing up the dreams" thing, just to give the listener more specific info. but maybe that's the country writer to me. but all in all, i really enjoyed it! nice job! erin

i've got to go to my kid's b-ball game, but listened several times, and i really think as usual you have "something" here bill.however there are several lyric tweeks that IMHO i think it needs, but i'm out the door as it's still streaming and my other son is playing with a new RAP song on my boss--hell, maybe it'll be good for something for HIM...LOL...i want to listen again later, but i hear a few time/space continuum things that might be a problem, but the basic music is quite good, it's the lyrics as i said that need a couple tweeks...i'm outta here, wanted to say something..."something"wh

Nope, not yet. It's a good song, and it could be a great song, but this isn't how it's done. I'm not saying I know how it should be done, but I think you're looking for feedback on whether it's working in the present incarnation, and I gotta say not yet. Maybe more alternative modern rock treatment?

Bill,It has that folk/rock feel to it....almost like it needs a 12 string and 3 part harmony on the chorus.........I like it......but that folksy/rock style has a hard time sometimes finding the right niche....at the right time for the right person.......Regards,Dick

I hear ya Mark. I think there was a good reason I shelved it years ago. There's something that I like about it but there's more that I don't like.Heck, I probably have 100 songs I feel that way about . . . If I'm not careful I could waste a lifetime trying to fix my broken songs! Thanks Dick, I was posting at the same time you were. I think this dead horse has been beat one too many times!

This is Excellent Bill. I think all it needs is a bit faster tempo And a better drum track. I love the feel and sentiment of this. If you dont want it Ill take it!M~

I agree with Matt. I liked it. Little rough but salvageable. I liked the vibe quite a bit."If you dont want it Ill take it!"Hell, lets start the bidding!

Well, whoever wants to invest the time into it can have what I've done so far . . . 50/50 split if you can do anything with it. My songs are like my children . . . I can't wait for them to grow up & get out of my house
