Satellite Down - Before it Began
Here's a song I wrote about a year ago. It's all me, so it hasn't been through final mix and master yet. It's the ubiquitous scenario of remembering memories somewhere special (in this case, Barcelona). In the final version I wont be singing on it (as my voice sucks) but I generally write the stuff, so this is what you get.I'd appreciate comments on EVERYTHING. Should I change the chorus? The melodies, the instrumentation, whatever, Be HARSH.Cause its gonna change a lot.http://www.dallasnetworks.net/media/sd/ ... p3Lyrics:I do think I remember fuzzy memories pushing to fade away. The circus in the city loses silly clowns who now refuse to play this way.And you don't ever speak your mind if I don't ever take whats mine. This is so useless. We found a way for temporary settlements which we can't carry, so heavy inside.ChorusIt's only time we're pushing awaySo much time we'll never see againVerse 2.I remember dancing on the high-rise floors of glass and looking downon coastal skies. We would watch the lonely people walking down the streets which had nomotives no fake replies. No goodbyes.ChorusOutroAnd now I seeWe could dance all nightBut we is now me and you're dancing with someone whoMakes you miss tonightYou knew it was over before it had ever began.Woah oh oh.BeganrepeatSo over before it began.....

This is another very commercial sounding song as usual! I didn't hear anything wrong with your voice & I think it's fine for the song. I don't think you need the sound fx though. Now here comes what you probably don't want to hear . . . there's something in parts of the production that gives me a dated "Tears For Fears" buzz. If that's not what you're going for I'm sure it's something you can take care of when you re-record it. Maybe someone else that's more familiar with the genre can clear up what I'm hearing to draw the comparison (or maybe they'll just say I'm full of it!) -

Nice track! Really creative. A few nitsAcoustic arpeggios that start around :58 sound very 'piezo' and thin to me. Overall the mix seems a bit bass heavy, and drum light.I think the heavy 'verb on the drums might be giving it a bit of a dated sound that Billg alluded to?Still, a really cool piece. Vox sound great.Cheers,
Erich

good stereo field. I liked the extra bass umph. To my ears I hear some eighties top production here. I was thinking perhaps some solo John Waite from the eighties. Is that autotune or something similiar at the end? Maybe a vocoder? Sounded like voice and synth.
