Leaving (1 of 14)

Post by Mark Kaufman » Tue Feb 03, 2009 11:58 am

This is #1 of 14 for the FAWM Challenge ("February is Album Writing Month" - the challenge is to write 14 songs in 28 days).Man, it's hard to just slap it down and leave...I want to fix things, re-sing pitchy vocals, try different sounds, etc...but, nope. Gotta let it go and move on.Still, I do plan to get back to this someday, so I'd love to hear some feedback or suggestions. Thanks!http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7303681LeavingIn these northern woods the leaves are turning red and golden brownI can feel my blood within their veinsWhen the frozen wind has withered them they all come piling downTo remind us that soon we must be leavingEvery time I move to close the door a new one opens wideIf I come or go it's all the sameAll our actions keep repeating like the motions of the tideIs there even such a thing as leaving? And everybody knows we have to goLeavingGazing out the window there’s a face you think you’ve seen somewhere beforeLeavingPassing into time, into space, and through the ever-open doorLeavingGazing out the window there’s a face you think you’ve seen somewhere beforeLeavingPassing into time, into space, and through the ever-open doorWhen I finally come undone and can no longer sing my songOh sweet love, please hasten to my sideAs I pass into the gleaming hold my hand and keep me strongI may need you to help me through the leavingI may need you to help me through the leavingAnd everybody knows we have to go(Copyright 2009 by Mark Kaufman)

yea, thats a big fat ROGER, this is a really cool song! I enjoyed it and thought it was impressively well structured. Though a rough production, it was just fine for this song to convey its potential imo. Ill keep this post short and sweet cuz you got a lot of work to do! And if you're cranking out tunes of this caliber.. Hell, id shut the phone off, lock the dog in basement, and stock the fridge with beers and tv dinners! Jamie

I couldn't listen to the whole sond since I have to run to work! yeowsa. But what I heard was very good. Two more voc harmonies and you have Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
