mccanty,Interesting that I'm not familiar at all with The Fray, but am pretty sure I know a song or two of theirs just by listening to your piece--that's probably a really good sign if you're going for an "a la."I think it's a good tune. My sense is that people are drawn to the bridge because you have more harmonic support there (BGVs) than in the rest of the song. Your voice has a good energy (sounds a little straining at times), but the backing tracks seem a little tame in comparison. This could probably be solved partly just by raising the volume of the instruments compared to the voice, but you might also find that you'll have to replay some of them with more attitude. For an example, I'd listen to the piano outro, which sounds fairly quiet and distant until the last several seconds when it's much more powerful.HTH!Vince

Dude...I think this is super string with potential to be a big hit...honestly...and I don't say that often...If I had to make a critique I would just say that there are some lyrically weak spots...particularly the prechorus when you start to say some things that have been heard before...still good though...just could be a little more fresh...Also, there doesnt seem to be any open space...I really like all of the melodies...but they are all very connected...in the prechorus I think there should be some empty space to get the listener ready for the chorus that is very full melodically...just my thoughts...really great man...-Alan

apjc10 - i agree it is lyrically weak in spots. i was trying to find somebody to help with that but I waited too long and had to go with what I had..............I also think it needs to be beefed up with guitars in the more dramatic sections.thanks for the kind words

All in all very nice job. Solid message. Nice vocal and wonderful instrumental.Of course if you want to add greater dimension to it, consider adding additional instruments. In my opinion it's all about the feel you want, not if someone else thinks it needs more instruments. It's about the degree of soul and message you want to convey. Personally I can enjoy the beefy stuff, as well as presentations with less instrumentation. Less instrumentation means greater emphasis on the vocal and the message itself. In a day and age of "in your face" music, people forget that a lot can be accomplished with a few guitars or a piano presentation.Personally, I would not change much. My 2 cents.GB

I like the way it starts - comes right in. I always enjoy not listening to useless intros. Plus that leads to the chorus coming in early which is always good.To me, the chorus needs a little more separation from the verse - perhaps adding a vocal harmony to the chorus, or some backing ooohs and aaaahs - something to separate the chorus from the verse. The bridge is strong. The overall sound of the song, to me, is a bit... sterile. It's not bad, but it's a bit... "plain" for lack of a better word. Like a previous reply, it needs more "umph".Overall - decent tune.
