Okay, listened to lots of advice--new version is posted. 2nd verse is first, new second verse, and added a bridge. Still no solo yet...

ah, you've applied the glue to the story--nice job!one nit for me, the cymbal crash thing at :46 and elsewhere--don't know, makes it kinda whimsical, and if that's what you're after there, then cool. just seemed a bit corny (yeah, like I"M telling you about corny...just seemed almost distracting even after 3 listens, but don't know what you'd do instead now, kinda used to it...LOL...the bridge is a very nice intro to your upcoming solo, nice work mark, warren

I love it Mark! This reminds me of "The Band". If you could replace the kick a bigger sounding one, get a snare sound with more "rattle" or bottom mic level, crank the drums up and the bass down this would be a perfect sound imo.here's a very bad recording but you'll be able to hear what I meanhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY_5JOEmFK0&feature=related

Yeah, Better days are getting better Mark!A nice lead break, maybe slide would finish it off nicely.Sorry though, I gotta agree with Warren; I probably wouldn't have noticed that cymbal, but, (since he pointed it out ) it stands out more every time I hear it. It's like you're waiting for it, a bit like one of those crashes after the drum roll in a circus act. I don't think it needs it.Good work though.Look forward to the next version.Dave.

Thank everyone!Yeah Bill, I haven't focused on the mix or the sound other than a quick mix for playback purposes...once I finish tracking I'll hone in on the sound and definitely try your suggestions on the drums. Maybe I should drop Windowman a line...that slide work was sweet!I like that little splash, but it seems to bug people, so I'll reconsider. Maybe a duck call...or a coach's whistle...or an explosion...or a scream sound effect...?And with all these Band references, maybe a tuba solo...

I guess there's more than a little "Ain't No More Cane" in my chorus...
