Little Boy Likely

Post by wignelson » Tue Jan 13, 2009 3:08 pm

I'm thinking of submitting this song to a Singer/Songwriter listing. None in particular; however, I'm looking for a song plug only. I don't want to be a performing artist even though I am well able to do so.Any critique would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Wighttp://www.songramp.com/mod/mps/viewtrack.php?trackid=69648

Hey Wig,Haven't been able to get it to play. Probably on my side as I've had nothing but problems with playing files since I got my new Vista computer. I'll give it another try later.Cam

Sorry about that, Cam.The link works for me. Can't tell if it works for anyone else because you are the only one kind enough to give a damn.I think I've been blackballed or something. The fact that this forum largely ignores my work leads me to the conclusion that this is a pretty cold place unless you are in a click. There are a half dozen exceptions to that and I enjoy their friendship.I critique other people's work here and try to be positive and friendly but all I get is a lot of deep freeze.Oh well, thanks for trying to play the song.Wig

Hey Wig,Don't know why I didn't see this before.I really Little Boy!! The lyric is cool and the vocal presents it so very well. Did you mix this yourself? I really like the sound on the vocal. Also some really really cool chord changes in here!! "Bring you down" is especially cool.I'd forward it if I were a screener!Kitz

i liked this! Starting with the intro and all the way through. Everything worked. Definitely gave of a vibe, more importantly tho, The arrangement and chords suited the mood i got from the song. Vocals sit right, your voice compliments the song, and the lyrics are strong. I didnt really have any issues i heard other than than the placement of the piano and guitars. Their relationship in the stereo field seemed to overlap a bit here and there. I think somewhere in the low mids--mids, i would like to hear more individual defintion. It sounded like the piano was panned hard right and the guitar spacing seemed quite narrow. Might try widening it with imaging tools.. Few 'minor' things that might shine 'er up a bit. Great song. I look forward to hear more.Jamie

Wig,I listened to this on the road this week but couldn't post due to firewall issues, I guess...You certainly are well able to act as a performing songwriter--love the quality in your voice.Overall I really liked this song and your vocal and mix help to sell it. With the 3/4 time and verse/refrain form, it's different enough to stand out also.Things that you could do to improve (for song pitch): - The piano was out of time on a few occasions - Drums could be a bit more interesting (or just change to percussion)Good luck with this--would love to see you place the tune!Vince
