hmmm casey--i'm stuck someplace between billg and zoom on this....i dug the 60's version, i thought maybe herman's hermits, but the monkeys probably are closer--is this really your 60's version? very cool, amazing the production changes since then...now on the acoustic version, i think (NO OFFENSE PLEASE) with a better vocal but the same guitar driven vibe, i can hear/see this in a film, some guy driven down the highway, wipers sloshing....so hell, re-produce them BOTH!! that's easy for me to say being the genius producer i am, but i'm serious, doesn't have to be one or the other, as they're distinctly different...the best, warren

Not offended at all. In a million years I would never be the vocalist, LOL... The 60's version is a studio production- not me on any part of it... I'm a total non-performer. Casey

I'm thinking of attacking this a la Rufus or similar for:ACOUSTIC SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS are needed by an established Music Publisher in L.A. who has secured TONS of Film/TV placements for many TAXI members. This Publisher is only looking for songs that are piano/voice or acoustic guitar/voice - NO additional instruments in the track, please! Songs should be original and along the lines of Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Patrick Wolf, Fiona Apple, Rachael Yamagata, Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, etc. All tempos will be considered for this one, but please be sure that the arrangement is SOLO piano/voice or guitar/voice. Solid performances are necessary and recordings need to be Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordings should be just fine). Male or female vocals are just fine. They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal - you keep your original copyrights. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than January 14, 2009. TAXI #S090114SSI would do a major re-write of the lyrics and see about getting in produced in time...This link has a VERY ROUGH version FOR STYLE ONLY as a S-S song (Casey Slow Rough)...http://www.broadjam.com/transmit/index. ... gbndsq=2Am I crazy?(OK I know I'm crazy, but what about this idea?) Casey, This is sounding more like folk to me than S/S, but might be worth a try. The a la's the listing offers usually have more modern voicings and phrasings.Vince

I've decided to completely re-write the lyrics so maybe I can work on that.

I'm not sure if folk is an artifact of MY performing it or not... Could be too folk, not sure... Some of the artists in the "a la"s are not as far off that as one might think. I was listening to one and amazon even recommended Leonard Cohen as a recommended similar artist... But definite food for thought... Casey

I thihk both versions could work. Does it have to be either or...? Why not work up both versions and keep submitting it until you get a deal?I dig the strat tone and playing on the 60's version guitar solo -- what did you use? Don't hold back I need all the details: guitar, pickpups, pedals, amplifier, plugins, microphones.... .Nice tune, thanks for posting.Erich

Either way, the lyrics need major surgery... The rock version was done by a hired studio so I don't know any details... sorry PS regarding the "folk" thing. I was reading about Elliot Smith and read that they call his music "punk folk"... Don't you love cross-genre, LOL?? Appreciate everyone's input... Casey
