Uplifting Instrumental

Post by teleblaster » Sat Dec 20, 2008 7:50 am

I submitted this piece: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7163751 to the listing pasted below. The deadline has passed, but I figure I have a few days to make last minute tweaks and update the file. Curious to hear feedback on everything and anything, performance, recording quality, how well it does or doesn't match the listing. If and as you provide a critique give me a link to anything you might want me to give a shout back at for you.Cheers!INSPIRATIONAL AND UPLIFTING INSTRUMENTALS in all styles are needed by a great Production Music Library/Publisher that has signed tons of TAXI members over the years, and has made money for many. These Instrumentals can be lush orchestral arrangements, simple/acoustic piano or guitar pieces, lilting/playful Alt Country/Singer-Songwriter tracks, etc. The only absolute must is that the overall tone is very inspiring, heartwarming and light. Think of a commercial where children are laughing, a couple is holding hands and walking along the side of a lake, a baby is playing and giggling with a grandparent, etc. - these pieces need to reflect a warm and glowing mood to support visual scenes of this nature. Tracks should ideally be between :60 and 3 minutes in length - you must be prepared to provide shorter edits with button endings, should the company contact you. Performances need to be excellent and broadcast quality is necessary - great home recordings should be just fine. Their deal is typically an exclusive agreement with a 5-year reversion clause. Please submit one to three tracks online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than December 19, 2008.

Thanks Bill! Too funny, we must have been reviewing each other's work simultaneously. I just left a few comments for your cool 60's garage band tune....

tele,I really like!! No complaints other than a few little clicks in places. Something happens on the very last note I'm not sure what - it's like a pop or something. Just an idea to try - drop out any delay on the last note and let it ring alone. Just an idea. Really nice - good luck!!Kitz

Hi. Really great stuff - enjoyed listening to it.Agree with that tiny bit of cleaning kitz mentioned (although I only heard one thing) but extremely minor and nothing some seamless cut 'n' paste can't do...Good lucktt

Really, really nice, Tele. No problems 'ere mate. Not sure if they'll consider it uplifting and inspirational, but that's always anybody's guess. It inspired me to try and make my recordings sound this nice!Cam

blaster--i love this, i can hear the occasional just plain noice from playin for REAL, and yes, i do hear the delay at the ends of the phrases, which may be the problem, but in my experience with the old boss 1600 POS i write on, if you go back to the "dry" performance, and "erase" (if you have that feature, my system is NOT daw or protools-like...) whatever milli seconds that are causing it, then go BACK and re-delay it (or whatever you used...), that might fix it, and fairly fast...now in the middle of the phrases, they are real--i'd say leave them be...ok, that's from a terrible production dude, and if i could play like that i'd--well i'd be you, or billg, or even successful god forbid...! that's my guess and millionth of a cent worth of advice.very nice job,all the best, warren

Great job on this, man.You might consider adding a bit more compression (or fader riding) to even out some of the softer licks in there. Overall very nicely done. There is a pause before the phrase at 0:38 that seems to put the phrase starting a beat late. Maybe it's just style, but it kind of threw me for a second. You should get a bite on this one, no doubt.
