LOL, Warren...we've actually gotten mail addressed to us in the name of 'Chitley,' and also people frequently replace the 'c' with the 's' if you know what I mean. You know I really had to love someone to marry them with a name like that. Thanks, Warren, Zoom and Bill for all you guys thoughts....they are always appreciated....it looks like Bob's taking them in. Bill, I'm glad you think the song is awesome...that makes my day.Well, thanks for the compliments on the lyrics, Bob....but you know your production and beautiful melody made the piece. BTW, I am having a crap day...I'm not able to work now 'coz of physical health probs I had in the past, although I am getting better with every year. My hubby is the sole breadwinner....anyway, his company is not giving raises to any employees this year due to the economy. Business is getting slower. It could be worse though...I'm glad he at least has a job for now...so I'm thankful for that. All y'all's posts made me happy and cheered me up, so thanks!

That's all I gotta say, 'cause Warren didn't leave me any more space! I'm off for another listen now!!Oops, didn't see your post here, Dave. Hey, thanks! I dig your Santa avatar, btw.Well, actually, that's not me singing, but we'll pass your compliment onto the vocalist. LOL, Warren does utilize the space well though.

I'm having a problem with vocal intelligibility; might be my problem, not yours, as I'm not listening in the production room as usual, my main computer's down. From where I'm sitting, it sounds like a little too much de-essing. Maybe post lyrics?

Hi Mojo,Here's thje lyrics, I'm not sure exactly what de-essing is , so I googles it, and I'm still not sure what it is. Any help on how to get rid of it if this is the problem would be great.BobChristmas Came Early This Early.Christmas Came Early This Year IntroPiano playing Christmas Came Early ( Twice)Voice inChristmas Came Early this yearVerse 1Coming home from a war torn countryIn October, you'll get your leave I got a letter saying you'll arrive Around the nineteenthLast year we spent the holidaysWith Daddy overseasThe kids and me missed you sowhen we decorated our treeChorus:So I'm putting up that Christmas treeRight before HalloweenWe'll hang those lightsAnd silver bellsAnd wreaths of red and greenAnd when Christmas comesYou'll be gone againBut I won't shed a tear'Coz Christmas came early this yearVerse 2Oh the angels are keeping you safe from harmThey'll deliver you to meEven though the frost hasn't hit the pumpkinsWe'll have our Christmas feastAnd we'll dine on sweet potatoesApple pie and Christmas hamAnd we'll unwrap all our presents Before you head to foreign landsRepeat chorusInstrumental breakRepeat chorus

De-essing is a process for reducing excessive sibilance; certain condenser mics are prone to emphasizing "s" and sometimes even "t" consonants, so a special compressor is used that's designed to work only on the problem frequencies. Used lightly, you end up with a nice vintage vocal sound; too much and you either lose some intelligibility or worse, turn all the "esses" into "effs". Warren complained of too much high end, I'm not hearing enough-but mainly just on the vocal. Accounting for the differences between playback systems, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, unless you hear the same thing from several different sources. This a beautiful production and a timely and terrific story, but the carpet don't match the drapes. What I'm getting at is that the smoky jazz feel is at odds with the joyous homecoming theme.
