Diary of a Spaceman (space shuffle soundtrack)

Post by 333maxwell » Sat Dec 20, 2008 8:54 am

Being this is my first post here I am a bit apprehensive. Not because of any music review.. being no stranger to being crucified over my brand of musical adventuring this doesn't bother me at all.Rather as it is my first post, I will inevitably do something wrong. It never fails, you think you read the rules, follow the guidelines, and someone comes in and politley reminds you 'it is 10:53, no one around here posts at 10:53 you stupid idiot, forever you will be in the dunce corner around here now.. 10:53.. my goodness your dumb"So assuming it is ok to post at 10:53 and all the I's are dotted and the T's crossed, I would like to present a lilttle bit of musical (hopefuly fun) nonsense called Diary of a Spaceman.Probably not the best first look at my musical offerings, but then again what is? I am one of those who can honestly say I rarely compose the same song style, or instrumentation (I play many, even if marginal) twice. So on that note, without further adieu, I present, to anyone who wants to take the time, Diary of a Spaceman. A quirky little tune I built around a Theramin based chorus.Diary of a Spaceman lo-fi URL: http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplaye ... 61241&q=lo hi-fi URL: http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplaye ... 61241&q=hi

333,I'm not aware of any rules against posting a long song, but I also don't know if you can realistically expect many people to listen to the whole thing if it is 10 minutes +. Probably some will. What does work well is to point out your intended usage of the song (e.g., visual scene, record deal, artist pitch, etc.), or specific things for people to comment on (melody, lyric, guitar sound, overall production, etc.). But, I just figured out that this is only 3:08, so I did hear the whole thing! Found it interesting, with some good production values. I usually think of lots of reverb for "space," and this is recorded pretty dry, but sounds good. The playing has a good feel. And unique--you don't hear a lot of Theramin!Vince

Vince, thanks so much for your ear. It always amazes me in this busy world when people take their time to listen and feedback to my silly songs. Don't get me wrong, I love it, it just amazes me anyone still does.As for the 10:54 reference it was an obscure reference to the time I posted at.. joking that someone would say I can't post at that time. Most forums I visit are delightful, there are a few though that have more posts about just about anything BUT the music they are set up for.thanks again for your ear!

wassup triple 3 Maxwell~i dig the 70's space feel to thisi this this could have commercial placement applications'specially if you picked the most 'moving' sequences/barsin the song...so often with listings, i usually condense one of myfull-length songs in to a tv/movie listing thats under 3 minsi guess thats the fun part of making songs...the ability tore-hash them into something different and new (and less work!!)lazyly yours!geoff
