Hi Mark,Nice chord progression you've got going here. Got a real '70s feel to it (the good stuff, not the crap). I'm not sure I agree with GB that it would be only take country instrumentation to make it a mainstream country song. I think it would take more than that, but I agree that Jimi's group are as good at that as anyone.Personally, I think I'd go singer/songwriter with it.Cam

Hey Mark,This is really good. Excellent lyric. Love the verse and chorus melody. Maybe the bridge melody could use a little more differentiation from the chorus. Has a Bowie feel to it.Why make it more country? I think I'd go more Bowie/pop with it. Plus if you want it to be 'commercial', pitch it to artists, the lyrical theme may be too 'serious' and 'negative' to get cut in country and if you go film-tv, I think there are more opportunities there for pop songs, versus country. Mark,Let me add this. 1. You might consider a pro critique of this song .. by Jason Blume, Braheny, etc .. ask them what genre they think would be best, both musically and commercially.2. If you get a pro studio job, strongly consider getting a MASTER, not just a DEMO. With a demo you can only pitch it to artists, but with a MASTER you get all the signed release forms by all the performers (musicians and singers), so you can pitch the recording to film-tv, radio, cd's, etc, in addition to artists. Many Nashville studios charge double for a MASTER, but if you look around I think you can get a pro MASTER for a pretty good price.Just ideas. You may already be considering both. Excellent song. Good luck with it.Dean

Hi Mark,Really cool.. I really like the lyric delivered as they're sung here. I definitely agree on a 70's kinda vibe as mentioned above. I'm not sure about the country part as much because I don't write country, but I feel like it would take a re-write. I hate to say it but it seems like the melody and lyrics would almost have to be dumbed down for that, and I really like it in it's current setting. I feel like there's more sophistication here than I normally here on country hit song... Just my 1 cent. Nice song though!
