Dear Everybody........Please review........

Post by mcanty » Fri Nov 28, 2008 6:23 am

This song is called "These Voices In My Head" and was written about my never ending battle with depression. I would like your thoughts both good and bad.............I would also like to find a guitarist who can really push this over the top. I keep hearing some Bohemian Rhapsody type of guitar work in this song. Very large and hooky...............Anyway...........let me know what you think and thank you. You a psychiatrist Che?You nailed me there! I guess I must be an artist!!

Dave,Hmmmmm.....maybe I should have went to college!!!!! Instead I married into a family of artists and am raising the next generation of them. It's in their blood... it seems I have no choice. It's either learn to live with them and how to "work them" or go crazy my self. I chose the first option and it seems to be working out ok.......so far. Never a dull moment!!!! and it's not for the faint at heart I've been "home schooled" for my degree in psychology.

Yeah, I tell my wife the reason I'm moodyis 'cause I'm an artist; but she won't have it! Maybe you should have a word with her.In fact, I'm gonna show her how well you nailed me on that last post!If she hears it from someone else, she might listen! Thanks for starting this therapy thread Mark!

mcanty, welcome back It'd be stupid of me to offer anything on this. Very stupid.Great songwriting, dude. What a very, very good song. Simple as that. Don't change a thing.Edit: I just played this to my wife. She's streaming tears. I'm not far away myself. Are you sure this needs the Bohemian Rhapsody guitars?

I don't really have the skills to tell you how long it should be, how your prosody is, how you should set up your tension and resolve and all that jazz.I just know I really like it

Mcanty,Had a listen or 2. I am impressed with the vocals. Nice voice. I also felt it to be too long. I think you did a good job of expressing the feeling of depression.I think cutting it down as others have suggested would give the listener and easier time.Impressive effort. Im back to feeling inadequate again. M~

Markhttp://www.taximusic.com/stream/188763/These%2 ... Head.mp3Hi MarkCan you post the lyrics too?A lot of good stuff going on here. I can relate to the subject. Excellent emotional expression and sincerity. I could see an Elton John style song out of this. What I think it needs is a bit more structure and clarity of sectional differentiation so it doesn't lose the interest of the listener as too much "run on". That's not meant as a demeaning word in any way-- I feel like it needs something to delineate the sections to the listener. Good stuff! Casey

Your song is amazing!I could hear the guitars that you wanted....but honestly, its perfect the way it is The last half of the song was even more amazing than the first....The flow and rise of the piano with your vocals, gave me goosebumps Perfect.Great back up vocals too, nice height I have to congratulate you on putting such a personal song on here, you've got balls of steel!M

Mark, This is one of the best melodies I've heard in a while on the boards. I would consider it to fall into the "undeniable" category. As well, I can't relate to the lyrics, so I don't feel I am a good judge, but they really seem to work for your song. And I second the voice reference, you've got a some chops. Strong work.Andy
