Been away for awhile working out all of the bugs with the new studio. Plenty of bugs left, I can assure you. In the meantime, I finally managed to get this little ditty together for the listing below. I have the rest of the day to submit, so anything you here mix wise that needs fixin' would be greatly appreciated. Not trying to reinvent the wheel here, just trying to be authentic. This isn't mastered yet, so the overall level is low. damn that's good. I'm not sure the 'plot' of the song hangs together (like, if she's so ugly and mean, why're you with her in the first place . . and why you hatin' on grits?), but the vibe is smokin and the vocal gets the job done. would suggest a tad more bass (the guitars sound a little lonely) and a bit more presence in the vocal. but that's about all.

This tune is tight man. I also don't feel the story is solid, but it's not that distracting either. I dunno. I've listened to it 3 times already, I like it

hey wade, don't believe we've met. I'm satan.mix huh? ok ... well .... I'm looking .... still looking ..... ok ...I got nothing ... knowing this isn't your master and knowing pretty much what will happen when it is - I got nothing. it's pretty much about as good a mix as I've heard in my 2 or so weeks here at the P2P forum ... and frankly, you've treated it just about exactly the way I would have, from the lead pans to the snare to the lead vocal level ...just about as perfect as I've heard. everything right where it should be in this style and genre. and the song is not reinventing the wheel to be sure but if you wanted authentic, you nailed it. from the licks to the voice.trust me, you don't need to do nothing else but shine this rock up. put it in a lunchbox and take it to work. spread it out on the table and let the boys eat it up. and you will be today's best buddy.

Wade,Nice tune, well recorded and authentically played. On first listen, I don't think the vocal quite matched the energy of the instruments, both in articulation and volume. It sounded like an overdub to me. As another example, in the stop-time bridge (after the solos), the level of the voice is uneven.I think your success with this (forward) will depend completely on whether the publisher wants a deep/meaningful lyric (not usually required for blues), and whether he thinks all the solos is too much filler. For TV/film use, they should be able to edit to suit the scene, so that really shouldn't matter.I do think the "mean streak" title/theme is pretty universally usable, so that's in your favor. Good luck!Vince

Thanks for having a listen everybody......Plot line.....This is based on a true story about a couple I knew years ago. He was a songwriter in Nashville where, apparently, there exists a certain 'high bar' expectation of what constitutes a good song. Consequently, he was poor most of the time & broke the rest. His wife worked as a real estate attorney full time & took a secondary job as a veterinary assistant to cover her no good husbands ass. Er... debts. He had quit his slack, well paying job as a Zamboni driver in Flin Flon to pursue this elusive dream to 'Rascall Flatts heaven', much to her dismay. Now, if you know any real estate folk or lawerying folk, you've probably witnessed the depths of depravity they'll go to to earn a buck or to take advantage of others. A lot of times it's really more about the thrill of the chase, much like that Deep Purple guy said. Add to that the slight inconveniences of killing kittens & fishing out gerbils from god knows where on the weekends, and you've got yourself a very volatile personality. She started acting strangely shortly after they arrived in Nashville. Sleeping with his friends, sleeping with guys that weren't his friends, sanding her eyebrows, not shaving her sideburns anymore and telling him that the 'new country' he was trying to emulate was going to drive her to murder. She was diagnosed as bi-polar, alcoholic, incontinent, impotent, incompetent & morbidly oblique. She would spend days yelling at the man, followed by severe beatings and forced viewings of American Idol reruns. RERUNS, for christs sake! Now this fella wanted to escape the situation and all he needed to do that was get one song in the hands of the right screener producer. Of course, this never happened & the abuse continued. So he had to resign himself to the fact that he could never escape this trap. Counseling was out of the question. She absolutely refused to believe that she was bat shit crazy. The man soon gave up suburbia, new country music, mini-vans, White Jesus, camping trips, yoga, yogurt, Starbucks & his Kenney Chesney fan club membership to pursue a life of misery, juke joints & blues music. So, in some respects, there was a happy ending..... Except for that 300 pound reminder that would never let him go.There you have it- A nice traditional, authentic blues saga. You'll have to wait to hear part 2.Anyway, here's the new mix with a few minor changes and mastering. I brought up the bass a CH as mentioned by wrdz, and tweaked the EQ on the vocal.http://www.taximusic.com/stream/190463/ ... .mp3Thanks cj...satan. I can't believe that you're satan. If that were the case, I'd have to believe in god, Jeebus or any of the other militant invisible biblical leaders. Can't do it. Sorry, I'll stick with you being a human. Thanks for getting it.....Vince.... I can edit out the solos if need be. I have a button that does that, I think.Bill, my friend. Yeah, what's going on with these convoluted linking issues? Here's my TAXI hosting site. We need to get started on more drinking songs. If not that, then at least just drinking. Here's my TAXI page...I think that's what you meant." target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?userid=6675
