Walkin' In Hank Williams Shoes
Here's one about a country music icon. Lyrics by me/Music and vocals by Steve Klingforth http://www.broadjam.com/artists/home.ph ... htmlWalkin' In Hank Williams Shoes (Larry W. Jones 10/15/2006) (song#4068)There's never been country musicLike Hank Williams used to playAnd I guess that's why I still pickHank's kind of music to this dayThe words that Hank put his pen toWere about lost love and bluesNo wonder the places I've been toGot me walkin' in Hank Williams shoesRomance would always play a partEven though it was a cheatin' heartHonky tonk blues and broken dreamsWere infused in his song's themesEvery time I put Hank's records onThey seem to give me another clueAs to why it is that I am drawnTo walkin' in Hank Williams shoesNow as I travel with my bandI think that somehow I can seeSomething about his writing handWrote some of those songs of meHank sang about the common manThe way of life that some men chooseAnd tonight that's why I understandI'm walkin' in Hank Williams shoes

Re: Walkin' In Hank Williams Shoes
This works as a sincere paean, but the performance is a bit shaky. The time wavers throughout, and the vocal is (sorry to say it) weak. The lyrics: "were infused in his song's themes" is awkward when sung, even if it makes perfect sense written down, and the chorus line (with "will-yums" falling on the off-beat) like a compromise rather than a finished line. In essence, this sounds like a good song demo, with a sincere song that could use a little editing.
