Hey Fellas!COOL track! Like the West Indian? influence in there. Also like the power chord triplets that come in around :49. That added a nice touch. Good job to everyone involved!I-468

You have to think the same way if you want to find placements for your music.hello mazz, disease here (cj) ... I agree entirely, but this has long been a problem for not only independent musicians but for majors as well ... does taxi use a specific list and if so, is it forged from any particular publication used by the industry? there are so many new genre's and sub-styles. does the genre sheet show a list of examples for each? it's all so convoluted these days and seems to have been created by old mother hubbard when she finally filled up those cupboards ...CJ,For the TAXI listings, all the information comes from the listing party so you're at the mercy of their ability to categorize and also whatever "a las" they send along. TAXI does have a list of the referenced "a la's" but it's just as easy to go to Amazon or iTunes to research for a specific listing.I would imagine monitoring the Billboard Top Whatever lists would give you a feel for what certain categories are. I would imagine that the industry would look to that and maybe the radio formats to figure out what categories to use.Of course, we're dealing with music, which is a fluid and amorphous thing so any category is going to have fuzzy boundaries. And we can't even know for sure how another person even perceives music; we know how the ear works but once that info hits the brain, it turns in to something else depending on the individual. But in order to sell music, it has to be turned in to a "widget" so everyone that wants to buy it knows where to look. At that point, we're all in the same boat with trying to figure out where we fit. I think it takes time and research and developing the ability to take 3 steps back from our music and unhook emotionally from it. Otherwise, we'll never really hear it as a product, which, in the business world, it is.Sorry for the long answer, I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet and my mind is rambling.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

I just wondered if taxi had some sort of guide that helps prior to song submission for projects. but knowing now that the client frequently gives descriptions (no matter how odd) and lists examples can help but ... well ... I've seen a few that made me scratch my head and wonder who was doing the listings ...Quote:Sorry for the long answer, I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet and my mind is rambling.long? ha. I can ramble and fly all over the page for 2000 words between lucid thoughts. it's a gift I got from my dad. he taught me to zone out. I do it for people that can't sleep. I should be paid for it.but thanx for your answer mazz. later ...
Gave up guilt when I left the ol' school girl uniform behind. You know, cute little skirts and knee socks, nuns and rulers and all that.

Metallica performed, "One." Yeah, that makes sense. NOTAlthough I was in the local record store yesterday and noticed Bon Jovi under "Masters of Metal." Yikes.Of course I stopped watching the Grammy's the second Britney Spears and Madonna started winning them. The award lost all meaning to me after that.

Re: The Mirage
Cool tune guys... it's does kinda have that NIN feel which I've always loved..... textures are great.... good vocals cj.... you're married... I'm impressed.... have to redo your psychological profile....My only critique would be more of a pop come solo time... after the break.... personal preference I like an explosion in tunes like this..... they build such tension that I anticipate a release (wanking off to cj of small case's avatar isn't cutting it ) ... that and the hook is kinda buried.... but that might be the Taxi brainwashing coming through....Nice stuff!!!Peace, GeoPS Mazz brings up good points on giving people a path to follow when posting songs...
